I figured why not start a topic about my request!
anyway... for starters, I've Seen it done and would like to use this...
I'm using Prexus' ABS and i would like to have a character walk around with no weapon in hand as the Charset...
but when item is equipt --->a seperate characterset is layered on!!!
thus if item long sword is equip, longsword character set is now on display
if shield black knight is on--- another layer to show the shield!!!
now the character is set for battle!!!
also i would love for it to read the character file and if it is attack then the attack characterset for weapon plays also!!!
(I will have to contact Prexus for this!)-Guard enables shield in front!!!
-will explain that more with prexus, since its his script!!!
this will help grand for now till i need a script merge!!!

If you look around, I'm sure you'll find the Visual Equipment Script. It does exactly what you ask for in the way of 'layering' on graphics.

But he wants it compatible with prexus abs so i don't think they will work

i tried a visual equipment one but it faled... the layers are on the bottom of the npc's and none on the player!!!
but anyway...
i'll probally have to go with the many different sprites... which will take hours to set up exactly what i want of it...
