Out with the old, in with the new! I'd actually like this moved into the Early Projects forum. This is more than one project, and they are all relatively new. Oh, and I can't wait to get bitched at on how much this game sucks.

This is going to be my project spot for all the games I've been making, but this time, I'll give you my stupidest game yet:

Jerk's Quest

The Quest:
Jerk had finally found the ancient and mysterious Relic, a known source of unfathomable power. Having found it, he was unable to stop the horrible spell it cast on him, which turned him back into his childlike form! Now, he seeks to reverse the spell in order to continue his quest...

Features:
Almost nothing noteworthy other than visible monsters to engage in battle.
Very difficult to play, i/e battles will take more than 3 seconds to get through.

I just played your demo, and it wasn't something I particularily liked, nor disliked; it wasn't really anything very special, though a first game is most of the time something really simple and cliché'd.
Memory loss? Check. Not a very original idea, and I'm not sure why it's necessary. As for implying this in the game, it's not really mentioned much, it does look kind of like he's just being introduced to the entire "rebellian group", if that's what you can call it; maybe you want to do an intro of some sorts, where you actually see him getting knocked out, or falling on his head, leading to the memory loss/concussion/forgetfulness; after this intro cutscene the actual gameplay could start. Add in a "What was my name again?" and let the player choose the name, I always find if fun to be able to alter the game a little bit as a player...

Okay so the hero wakes up in a cave (?), he walks out and there's an angel by the door, which is apparently a save point. No problem, no problem, just a little tiny bit confusing. No clue as to where to go, just walk around the strange maps (and honestly, the distance through the desert between that one-building-town and that secret cave is just ridiculously small; why make a secret hideout in a cave when you could just as well, I dunno, rent the back room of the inn to have secret meetings when the bar is closed?)
So the character enters the bar/in, note that you forgot to set this event to Player's Touch, otherwise the player will always have to press the action button to enter somewhere, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for doors, you have to open them, but for normal map transitions that's just stupid. I would also find it logical to have Mindy notice you instead of you going up to her and talking; she might become angry because you weren't at "some meeting", but that's because you were knocked out. You could add some choices for the player to say here, though they might not change anything at all (like being able to select two different excuses).
Also note that the bar/inn has two kitchens, one in the hall and one behind the bar.
So you go to bed, you sleep, you return to the hide-out, they tell you the plan, you get on your way. The little cutscene of the three of them on their way looked pretty nice, although the appearance of the ambush was a bit blunt. What about having them come out from behind the rocks, and making the general walk in from the top of the screen slowly to make him look totally menacing? I liked the effects, that was done well.
Then you end up in the prison, which I presume is far from finished, you can enter the cell, but you can't go inside again, the other (holes?) can't be entered, and you can't simply go anywhere. There's a bit of a mapping error on the holes of the bottom row, you'll notice. There's something wrong with those stairs as well.

That was a bit lengthy, but I have the tendency to think while I write and to write what I think. Keep it up, this might turn into something nice.
 
Hey, you're welcome. I love and hate detail at the same time myself, and hey, I'm just trying to be helpfull, that's all. If you need more help on anything, don't hesitate to ask. If I'm not going to answer, then I'm sure someone here will be friendly enough to reply to you or help you out some way.
I'm also interested in where this story will go; as long as it's properly executed and there's an interesting twist somewhere it is likely to work.
 
I see you've expanded on the town, good. I don't know whether or not you intend to make all the houses enterable(?), but I've always found it a little weird how you can just walk in and out of every person's house.
The scene with Mindy in the bar has been improved, obviously, better than it was before. Could probably be a bit better somehow, but it's definitely improved. Who's that guy who runs away through the corridor, by the way? I entered and walked around and suddenly some guy ran past me. I was like "Oh, do I follow him?" but he wasn't outside, so I went back in.
Anyway, you forgot to make the Character's name actually editable. If you want this to be possible, you have to write "\n[1]" instead of "Dervis". The program will look for the name of the first character in your database. If you'd like to make other names editable, you'll have to write the name command, but the number will have to be the number those characters have in the actors database (does that sound logical)
Still the same things on mapping; did you replace that passage from the second desert road to the first one somehow, because there seem to be two bridges, although one of them only has half poles.

OS is working on a glare script that might work and he is also tacking a crack at a background message system that I'm using. He is going to try to make the box fade for me, I can't wait to see what he does!

Umm, wow. Why are all the VX project threads all about the generic "old school" RPG stuff? At least the title sounds funny, though your mapping is bare.
