Is this Title Screen any good?

I worked on this for little less than 5 minutes, but I think it turned out pretty well. However, I'd like to see your comments on my work. Do you think it looks all right?

I think it's horrible. Default picture, *poopie* font, etc. Sorry this is how I say things, in the truth so yeah it can use a lot of work.

I didn't expect it to be any good anyway, I'm just learning photoshop after all. :P I guess you secured the fact that I fail at photoshop.

Something made in five minutes isn't going to be good. :P It's nice to practice, but you really shouldn't post stuff you make in five minutes here.

Anyway, get a different pic, and don't distort it like that. The scan lines are kind of tacky, and the font is odd. The texture is strange, and you made it way too blue to go with the pic.

my title screen was made in only a few minutes, and its pretty damn good. it wasnt made from scratch though, i used other elements like plants and moons, etc. but your correct, generally most stuff made in a few minutes wont be good quality, but it IS possible.

@ kyle: your game name is RPG maker VX? :\ first of all, you want something original and fresh, this is your game cover, make it stand out. secondly, your picture looks pixelated, keep in mind that you want quality. last of all, "erase every other row" is good for scenic things, like mountains and forest, but not so much for people and things you want detail on. keep that in mind.

If you need some Photoshop help, don't bother. You need to practice and screw around and learn your own way around the program. I doubt anyone can really teach you something that you can't get off of a tutorial site or figure out on your own.

first, get a bunch of good images to work with, you cant use the default image
second, search up tutorials, you can find some pretty neat tutorials if you try
third, learn that you can get extra plugins, like i would reccomend getting the aurora plugin,
and the alien skin ones, especially the one with the thunder effect
and finally, search up font tutorials as well, theyre useful if you find some good ones

Dunno if you'd call that brilliant, but it looks good and I made it in 5 minutes about a year ago.

And incase you all want to know what my first photoshop experience was like, here it is.

I think you should learn how to use text effects to their fullest potential and just make titles screens with text and subtle gradient backgrounds. Titles with epic scenes behind them look like shit.

Guys, stop showing off what you can do in Photoshop in five minutes.

Anyway, about the title screen...others have mentioned about the letters, and yeah, they're very painful to look at. It doesn't help that the font isn't the greatest, but why do you have all those weird lines going through it? It would've looked better as just plain blue text.

If you're a beginner and want to achieve some cool text effects, try this: Right-click the layer the text is on (in the Layers section of course, not the actual text itself) and select "Blending Options". There are several things you can add, such as shadows, gradients, and glow, to give the text a less plain feel. Try it out and experiment, it should help you a lot.

I'm the only person who showed something, so if you have a problem with that, that's fine, but don't blame everyone cause I was the only person. I also only showed them to prove a point that was questioned in the topic.

Another thing you need to know about making stuff like this, if you use a jpeg, it won't save the same way it did before, everytime you save it, the jpeg loses bit depth, so the more you save it the smaller it gets and more file information it loses.
