Hi there. My name is Brian.
I already have one completed project I have assisted with as a primary art provider.
http://rampantgames.com/frayedknights/ called Frayed knights. We have released and are doing rather well, and starting on game #2 of the series.
I am an indy game developer, and I am branching out into rmxp because I am a mediocre coder with a lot more interest in getting out fun projects and the stories that are banging around in my head than in designing game engines from scratch. I messed around with Sphere for a while, but while it is considerably better than the rm series, it also requires enormously more coding out of the gate.
I am not planning on producing free projects or those based on, or expanding from, licensed 'game worlds'. If I ask someone for a resource, rest assured that I believe it deserves to get paid for and I am willing to lay out the cash up-front for it. I don't do the whole 'if the game does well you will get paid' thing. I am also quite willing to share tips and tricks where I can, so I am not a complete mercenary. :smoke:
I don't have venture capital except for myself (strictly homebrew/indy/garage level) but hey, neither did notch :haha:
The current 2d project I am working on is an rpg called The Barazinbar Chronicles, a steampunk, dialogue-heavy mystery that is graphically more similar to arcanum or Baldur's gate than to Jrpg's. I am taking a somewhat different tack, using handpainted tiling groups in a more realistic style. I am using virtually nothing from the SRD, except perhaps a few special effects, and most of my artwork is actually 3d stuff converted to sprites. Yes, I know that that will make the sprite art purists recoil in horror, but there are MILLIONS of games done in traditional sprite art/chibi style, and I like the way 3d-to-2d steampunk art looks, especially for a fairly serious genre. Don't get me wrong, I can DO serious 2d spriting, hand blitting, selout, shading and pillowshading and the like, but I want something a little different for this game. :thumb:
Anyway, so that's a little bit about me if anyone is interested. Hope to meet a lot of you and share
