Interesting crash in RMXP...

Please note that this is not a Vista problem - I am on WinXP SP2.

My copy of RMXP was working seamlessly until a couple of days ago, when I came across this error:

"Critical Error C0000005 at address 05044E86"

What's peculiar is that the error only surfaces when I try to play an MP3 within the program. This also carries on to playing the games themselves; once you hit a scene with an MP3, the process ends and the error shows up.

What do I do ;__;?

Perhaps you're missing an MP3 codec or these mp3's are corrupted?

I don't think the MP3s are corrupted, since I've been using them for a while now... hmmm.

I think I'll try to uninstall a few programs that I've added in recent memory. I hope this'll help... D:

UPDATE: Still no use. System Restore couldn't help me either.

Sounds like a memory registry error. Try reinstalling RMXP.

Download DirectX 9c from microsofts site, and run it.

It should clear up your problem.

That happens all the time on my computer... Usually when I restart the computer, it fixes itself. On my computer it just means my computer needs rest.

I used to get a similar problem, like Kraft said installing or re-installing DirectX 9c should sort out your problem.

I used to always get that problem, mine arises when i tried to load a large size graphics (ex. 32k pixels tileset) and my computer's ram cant quite handle it so it gives me an error.

Like sasuke said, it helps when i restart the computer since it kinda refreshes the ram or something

Err... just to clear things up here...ive heard of an error that occurs when you try to listen to music in the Postality Knights version. so....
You aren't using PK or any other illegal version... are you? (if you didn't pay for it and there is no "buy now" window that pops up when you start RMXP, it's illegal)
If you aren't I apologize. I have to be suspicious :p
Anyways, try downloading various codecs and as someone mentioned, DirectX.
Does this happen with ALL MP3 files, or just with one? If it happens with all, there could be a porblem with RMXP itself, or your codecs.
Go to: http://www.free-codecs.com/
and download some of the audio codecs there.

Looking at the error itself... it looks like a windows error... So I'm pretty sure its a codec problem... Then again I may be wrong...
