Took the opportunity to register here to enter this sweet contest. So, hello everyone! :smile:
My game entry is called Igor Almighty, and is a heavily Castlevania-inspired platformer, which will be designed to appear like an actual NES-game.
Updates:
Story: Betrayed by his once loyal henchman Igor and left for dead, Dr. Frankenstein must make his way back to reclaim his castle, take revenge for the brutal murder of his daughter and end the evil masterplan of Igor once and for all.
Screens:
Features:
I think that might be all I have to say for now. Here's hoping I'll get this baby off the ground and bring some joy to those who still cherish a bit of retro gaming. Cheers! :lol:

Updates:
March 27th
Work continues and I'm almost through with the basement level (see new screenshot below). Again I have to renew my concerns regarding the deadline. Hopefully I will be able to tie this together last minute to appear like a remotely complete game.
March 23rd
The deadline is drawing close and honestly I still do have a load of work to do on this. I'm afraid I can't be sure if I will make it. On the positive side I shall mention that there are the famous stairs from Castlevania now added to the game, which actually add surprisingly much to the proper retro atmosphere.
Also there is a save-point system in place now, which is a more modern touch, as this obviously didn't exist in the original NES titles. I think it's a good way to deliver a still challenging game, while managing the player's frustration, hehe.
March 15th
After having done some additional work on the hud and scrolling, I noticed that over a third of the available 100 events are already used up. Seems like the limitations of this contest will make it fairly tricky to fit everything within that tiny scope.
Meanwhile I'm still polishing the cave stage. In case you're wondering here's the different stages that are planned:
Wilderness -> Cave -> Basement -> Hallways - > Tower.
March 13th
Juggled around with some sprites today. Mainly added the tiles for the wilderness setting (see screenshot below). Have to increase my creative output in the next few days to get more stuff done. :blush:
