If I draw the maps by hand, would XP>VX still?

Greetings.

I feel I am capable enough to draw the backgrounds and the ingame maps. Would XP still be considered superior to VX with this in mind? Is so, why?

I'm still trying to figure out what you mean by drawing the ingame maps. do you mean making your own tileset, or basically doing a video game version of a DnD map?

As for the backgrounds ... from what I've heard, VX has higher resolution (although I've really not noticed) so that may or may not be a good thing for your backgrounds.

Not much help, I know, but I am confused about what you mean with the maps.

XP by default is indeed superior to VX in the mapping department by default, but with enough determination and the right resources, VX can match XP if not surpass it. I think that drawing the in game maps is an interesting idea, but I think it might cause some problems like passability issues and it might clash with the charsets if you do not do it a certain way. I would love to see a screenshot of a map using this method so that I might make a more accurate assessment, because I don't have a lot to go on right now.

I've only been using VX for a few days, but I'm having BIG problems with how the tilesets work. I'm using the Multiple Tilesets script to allow me to use as many as I need, but it's not working very well, and I hate it, because it's stopping me from making my game.

I'm thinking about switching to XP - but then I can't use the great VX scripts I've found...but I guess there are other scripts for XP that I could use.
