Idea for an rp

Okay i had this idea for an rp
Well i was thinking about making an rp it would be a zompocalipse thing, like the pandemic that ven made, but this would be set in the past with swords and crossbows.
Now the basic idea would be that you would always start if with some kind of a weapon because of you pre zompocalipse job. Jobs can be anything you want it to be that could actually happen at that time I.e. king, jester, traveling salesman ect you get the idea.
Now the story as such would be that we knew that the zombies were attacking, so most of the towns army was sent to try and stop them, and as you may have guessed, they failed so the zombies continue their attack of the town.
since nearly all the army was sent off to fight the castle armory is nearly empty with the exception of a few swords, spears, bows and things.
and so the basic gameplay i was aiming for was that the rest of the town decides to fight the zombies. so the game is mainly exploring this town killing as many zombies as you can.
Now if i get enough good comments from people i'll make it and add more detail to it.
I'm open to any suggestions about any aspect of the game, so feel free to ask.
So, what do you think people, is it a good idea?

A zombie apocalypse in the middle ages doesn't seem right...possibly because the idea of modern "zombies" was derived mostly from Haitian voodoo stories back in the 1930s. Back in the middle ages and feudal era, the monsters were vampires, dragons, and most everything associated with Satan.

I don't think any RP in medieval times would take off here; we've got enough of that sort of stuff in the game development section.

Whether or not the weapons in medieval times could kill a zombie wasn't my point; I was saying that zombies just didn't really seem to fit the whole "Medieval Europe" theme. I guess that's irrelevant, though; it doesn't have to fit to be a good RP.

Spooky the whole idea of it being in medieval times was because it didn't fit, it's something completely different to other zombie games with guns and tanks.

You know, Fox Lord, I just noticed, RPG is an abbreviation of role-playing game. Nonetheless, you went so far as to remove the G from the abbreviation. You abbreviated an abbreviation. Is that really necessary? Was all this effort worth the while not to write an extra letter? Seriously, I'm not even a native English speaker, but hell, kids these days are killing the language.

Is this really necessary? ...or helpful? - Brew

That's why "Army of Darkness" was so unpopular. [/sarc]

RP(G)s are typically frameworks around which you can build your own stories, plots, objectives, goals to lead players through an adventure that promotes RolePlaying (acting out a part, assuming a character, or at the very least controlling your characters actions based on their characteristics.)

Roleplaying in a post-apocalyptic, or even a medieval-apocalyptic world would work just fine as long as the "RolePlaying" part of the game is developed well.

If you're trying to adapt an FPS, or any type of "Hack N Slash" system to a RPG, it's going to get boring really quick.

Imagine the DM/GM saying, "You encounter <roll dice> 7 zombies." over & over...

Now, pit the players against each other, i.e. I'll play the humans, you play the zombies and you could have an interesting strategy type board game (a'la Risk, Stratego, etc...)

Seems like the idea, as it stands, is more suited to a video/computer game, either a shootemup, or even an action adventure.

Be Well
