Idea for a Final Fantasy-Style RPG

First of all, this is my first post. So take it easy on me please??

I basically have an idea for a Final-Fantasy styled RPG (turn based battle system, story-based, lotsa characters, etc.)
All I really have as of now is the story. I can map for the game, and sprite if needed. The game will have a sort of elvish, majestic theme. Not so medieval, but if you have played any Final Fantasy, you know what I mean. Anyways, if any scripter (or spriter) is interested in a project, read this story:

Background Story:
One thousand years ago, the planet of Valhalla was populated with Humans. One thousand years later, Humans rule the planet. But human nature has taken control, and competition has waged wars. The kingdom of Alvantis, split up into 3 major cities called Garland, Berylium, and Nimca, has changed in the last 10 years or so. Corruption in the Royal Family and the Royal Guard has resulted in the killing of millions, and the people of Valhalla are, well, "fed up". 600 years ago, the same thing happened in the kingdom of Dragonmaw. But this kingdom was laid to waste by its very own king. 600 years later, nobody wants this to happen again...

Game Story:
The game starts off in a forest, setting the mood for the game. A man and a woman are observing a gigantic, towering tree. They say to eachother something along the lines of "This forest is our new home, let it help us get our mission accomplished. Then they say a prayer or chant of some sort, and the main character Arien appears. Arien has no idea whats going on. He doesnt know how he got there. And then the man goes hostile, and attacks Arien (thus showing the player the way the battle system works). While Arien is getting the crap beat out of him, the woman calls for the fight to stop. Then he explains he has no idea whats going on, and she says that they left a city called Garland because of its outbreak of civil war. She then says (without the permission of the man) that Arien can live with them. Later that night in their cabin in the woods, the woman, lets call her Rian for now, and Arien start to feel a connection through small talk. It's midnight and the man, Cid, is asleep. Arien goes out to another room to see that Rian is still awake. Since they both have feelings for eachother, things get awkward. Then Rian says something very nice to Arien, and the feelings grow a little bit. The next day, they plan on going to the city of Berylium. Cid and Rian tell Arien to head south through the mountain pass to get there, and that they will meet him there later in the day. Arien arrives there, and is halted by a Captain and two soldiers. They ask what his business is, and he tells them hes meeting two people by the names of Rian and Cid. The Captain then orders Arien (with force) to follow him to a bunker on the outskirts of the city. He then introduces Arien to the Commander of the city's army, Kraal. Kraal has a very distinct, evil, brutal look. He is also a smart-ass, and is very lazy. He first off asks Arien why a married couple would let him live with them. Arien is in disbelief, but it is true. He asks Arien everything, and after its all been explained, Arien is sent to prison until he tells Kraal where Rian and Cid are. Later on in the prison, Kraal visits Arien. He tells Arien that he burnt the entire forest they were living in to a crisp. But Rian and Cid were not found. Hes pissed, and he leaves Arien, leaving the food he brought him out of his reach. Later that night, while Arien is asleep, Rian and Cid secretly infiltrate the prison and attempt to break out Arien. But they are caught doing it, and are also thrown into prison with Arien. The nest day, Kraal comes and visits them. He talks to them and in a really cruel way, he says that they will be executed today. They go to execution, and they have no idea what to do. But then somehow, Cid and Arien escape. But Rian couldnt, and she was killed. Cid and Arien both are in total shock, and break down. Theyre emotions also show in their physical actions, and they get pretty beat up by guards. But once they escape the city, they travel to the village of Bedlum. There, they sleep for the night. During the night, they have nightmares and visions. And Arien claims to have seen the future. He says that he saw Kraal burning this village, and Ariens hometown (which he now remembers) He says he saw something evil controlling Kraal, but could not tell what it was. Then the village is under attack. It gets burnt and, yup, once again they are captured by Kraal. This time, they are taken to a castle in the sky. An evil one. They get to meet Kraal's master. Not the good-willed King of Berylium. The evil king of the Legion, Ragnarok. They both get to meet him. While he explains to them that he plans on burning the world to create his own, Arien catches something out of the corner of his eye. Kraal's reflection is a demon. And that's all I have so far!

Characters:
Name: Arien
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Background: In the beginning of the game, Arien suffers from amnesia. No one knows where he's from, or why he isn't there anymore. But if you look through all of this, you notice the obvious: He's wearing armor and has a sword. *hint hint*

Name: Rian
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Background: In the beginning, her and her husband Cid are moving into a cabin they built in a forest, after supposedly leaving the city of Garland due to it's outbreak of civil war. In this forest, they find Arien and take him into their home. But Rian is the flirtatious type, and her mature ways are too much to handle for Arien, being just 18. Arien begins to feel a connection between the two, but Rian does not.

Name: Cid
Age: 26
Gender Male
Background: After taking in Arien to live with him and his wife, Cid begins to not feel so happy. He does not like the fact that another man is in his house, and he begins to notice something between Rian and Cid. As a kid, Cid lived alone on the streets of Garland. As soon as he turned 16, he was drafted into the royal guard. There, he saw corruption and evil. After 9 years of being in it, he had enough. Evil had spread throughout it, and he had to do something. So he killed the commander of Garlands royal guard. Murdered. Dead. Kraal's brother.

Name: Kraal
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male....?
Background: The commander of Berylium's royal guard. His brother was the commander of Garland's royal guard. The reason both commanders were brothers is unknown. Some think it means something, some say it was a coincidence. No one knows what makes Kraal so cruel and evil. Most people say he is controlled by another being. But ever since his brother's murder, he has turned into a monster, ordering the killing of many people in connection with the anti-corruption scene. After capturing Arien, he has his final step forward in his search to find Cid, his brother's killer. Mystery shrouds Kraal, and he is the talk of the town. But the truth is yet to be unveiled.

This is just the main concept of the story. I really want to make this game happen though, so I could use some help in pitching in ideas for maps, characters, kingdoms, etc. Anybody have any ideas? Also, if anyone likes it, we could make a team and start developing this game. Thanks

Whatever you do, don't put Final Fantasy in the name.  Final Fantasy fan games and whatnot are always frowned upon, so think up your title.  Decent story though.

Final Fantasy fan games and whatnot are always frowned upon

Not necessarily. Generally, the name matters very little in game development, and the game's actual quality matters very much. If you make a good game, it doesn't matter what you call it or base it off of. If you make a bad game, people will make a lot of noise about how "final fantasy fangames are awful," but if it's actually worth playing it won't impede your progress one bit.

Also.

Concept Development is not an advertising forum. It is a place to pitch your ideas to the community and help develop them. This is an advertising topic. Please make it not an advertising topic.

If you want to advertise for help, do so by putting something along the lines of "wanna help with my project? pm me for details!" or something in your sig, or in your actual project thread. As it stands, if you really, really want to create a recruitment topic, you'll have to pitch in some money for a private subforum and advertise in the main private subforum directory. This was in response to the appalling number of dudes who simply made recruitment topics to hire people to make their games for them while they sat back and bossed them around.

Again, this is Concept Development. It's a place for developing concepts, not for getting help with your game. Please read the rules and fix your topic accordingly. If you could do it in 24 hours, that'd be swell.

Thanks in advance, dude.

(you're still advertising)

The Rules":2jfru2td said:
We can't stress this enough.  This is not a promotional forum.  You are not allowed to post promotional materials such as random screenshots, demos, recruitment ads, or links to any such material regardless of where it is located.  The aim of this forum is to provide critical feedback for concept materials, not gather fans  or minions for your team.  If that is all you want to do, I suggest you go to project discussion.

Please read the rules and update your topic accordingly.

You'll need to update your thread with more information to qualify.

When you start a project topic, you must have at the very least two screenshots of your work in progress, in addition to one full paragraph of story description.  It shows that you are making a definite effort to make this game a reality, and are not just spouting a random idea that you came up with two seconds ago.

You have the paragraph (and then some!) of story, but you need screenshots. Adding sections about your game's characters and what features make it special and things like that are good ways to get people interested, as well.

Anyway, I've moved you. If you could bring this up to subforum standards in twenty-four hours, that'd be great.

K welll sorry lol im new to this forum

All the more reason to read rules. They promote a healthy complexion and keep your hair rich and shiny!

This may be just be me but as far as using names for characters places etc ripping it straight out of Odin's bible can become worn and sterotypical. Try word generators or a spin on the word because it creates a more believable and original gaming experience.
