HTML Editor

This may seem like a dumb question/request, but is there an HTML editor (I know you can use notepad),but what I'm looking for is an editor that will color code the text you type depending on the tag or word used. (Sort of like mozilla firefox when you "view source") Because using notepad can become annoying depending how much code is used. So if anyone knows of an editor, that would be cool!

Notepad++ is good for small stuff, basic HTML and such; still, it's for non-lazy people (unlike me). I like Aptana (free) and DreamWeaver (not-free). DreamWeaver's kind of a pain though; some bugs, inconvenience, etc., but it's still nice if you have the money to dish for it.

I do recommend Aptana, however: it's free and runs on Eclipse. Just don't try it if you're not on Windows.

Notepad++ is the king of native windows apps for code editing IMO. The plugins available for it turn it into a fully integrated IDE, it does everything except version control (which is kind of a bummer). The syntax highlighting is highly customizable too, which is awesome for people like me who like the highlighting but not the painfully obnoxious schemes they usually pick (green italic comic sans 10pt for code comments? wtf?).

Eek auto-tag closing drives me crazy! You can turn that on in Notepad++ somehow but... yuck. :P
I've heard, by the way, that Coda is really badass on Mac for anyone interested. It looks like it has some amazing features.

damn you mac users and your plethora of slick web dev tools! sure, we have some too, but slick isn't exactly part of the PC vocabulary. yet.

Yeah every once in a while I see a really incredibly cool Mac app and think, "gee I wish I had an apple", then I remember the price tag and all the stuff I couldn't use. I am hoping to get OSx86 running in a VM on my next PC so I can have the best of all three worlds though (having already arranged a system where I can run Linux in VM while on the Windows boot and vice versa).
