How to Make a Panoramic Cutscene

Here's what I'd like to do, and none of my searches have helped me with what I want.

I want to make an opening cutscene, with a panoramic being used (for a castle wall with sky behind). However, I' ve never been able to do this. I know how to make a cutscene using events, but I can't seem to get a panoramic to work. I want to start above the actual castle, and have the "camera" move down until the wall is visible. So basically, how do I do this?

The way that I'd do something like this is to make the map really, really tall, have the camera start way up at the top of the map, and then use Scroll Map to pan downwards. But there may be a better way.

I did a little cheat with my first games opening cutscene and probally created alot more work for myself than I needed but I got the results I wanted.

I started my first game by having no sprite assigned to my main character. This way I could move the screen however I wanted and as fast as I wanted by setting move routes. Then as the scenes switched (there was about 10 total to tell the opening story) I would just switch my main character's sprite to whichever character I wanted to screen to move around. If I wanted none of the characters to move Id simply erase the sprite again and just make the events that had sprites move as needed. When all was said and done I gave my main character her perminant sprite. Is that understandable???

I used this way of doing things throughout my game. It may be more work than anything else but for a noob or someone who doesnt want to take the time to get things set just right it made things mucho easier for me.

this is the best way to do it, exect for the panorama isn't that big, so if you make your map "really really tall", the panorama will loop and it won't look good.

I figured I'd post this here, seeing as it technically has to do with the same topic.

I managed to get my cutscene to start (as in it scrolls down the way I want it to) but I have 2 problems now:

1) Part of my map doesnt show up, and there's this line of panorama across the screen where it should be (this occurs on objects on the second/third layer)

2) I can't seem to get this to work the way I want. I want to have soldiers come in and talk for a moment before getting ambushed, but the events don't appear on screen

That'd be easier to diagnose if you could post a screenshot of your event code, or even a download link for a demo, so that we could see what actually happens, or take a good look at your code.
