How do you make the screen darker?

I seriously tried and I couldn't figure it out.  I cannot make the screen darker so it looks like it's night!  I'm pretty sure it's a simple thing to do, but I can't figure it out! :(

Also, is it possible to jump to a label on a different event? Like, I have a label on common event 1 called "Hi" and on common Event 2 I want to jump to that label, would it work?

1. What I do is use a completely black picture. And use 'Show Picture' and set the opacity to what I want. I do this so I can still use a screen tint.

EDIT: Isn't it twelve-hundred?

Er, yup. Here I was, trying to sound proper by spelling out the number, instead of writing 1200, and I done messed up, and said the wrong number. :\

Isn't that a lot(well, not really a lot) of unnecessary effort? I find that a simple screen tint does the job quite well. Subtracting the greens, reds, and blue, but leaving more blue than anything. Maybe some gray, too. It works out well most of the time. Of course, I haven't tried out noobo's technique, so it may very well look better than a simple screen tone change.

I'll try your way first, thanks.

It looks just the same, only requires a picture and a few more commands :P I say stick to Tint Screen.
