How do YOU keep track of events?

Hey,

I have a real issue with making cutscenes. I move the events all around the place, but I ALWAYS forget where they currently are, because most cutscenes have 5+ events. Could you please share with me how you keep track of where each event is while making a cutscene? So that you know how to do the next "Move Event" to move the event to the location that you want? No, I'm not talking about pathfinding because that doesn't work very well in cutscenes. But if you use it, please, share it with me. ^_^

I always put some events on the map with huge crosses, and move those around while making the cutscene. But it takes SO long. @_@ And sometimes I even mess that up.

I'm not really sure if I completely understand what your asking, but if your having trouble keeping track of which event is which, you can look at the top left of the event page and you could name your event to whatever you want, that way the name of the event will now be called "Hero's Broom" instead of event0011 or whatever.

Hope this helps.

Hmhm, nope. I mean where the event is when you add a new Move Event of the cutscene handler. Because when you move events around in a cutscene, they won't be where they started. And then if you do another Move Event, you need to know where they "currently" are. I'm wondering how everyone else does this, as it's a major problem for me. T_T;

Nope, there's no way to track exactly while they are while you are eventing. You could draw out a map of the scene though, just a grid block, and then draw the paths you wish for them to go. Then you can track where they are at what point easily whilst going through the event.

But there isn't a way in event, that I know of.

I know there is no way to track them, that's what I said. XD I was asking how others keep track of them. Assuming that you don't have an supernatural memory capable of simply remembering where they all are. But I seem to be the only one with this problem. ^^; It's really strange.. I honestly don't get how others remember where the events are while making a cutscene. I mean, I'm doing the highest study possible in the Netherlands with average grades, so I'm not completely stupid. @_@

I usually just set all the move routes, guess in case I'm lost, and test play it a few hundred times, adjusting whenever the events are in the wrong position. :tongue: Admittedly, there's probably an easier way, but that's just my method.

I find if it's a really complex cutscene I can temporarily make copies of the map at different stages of the cutscene and make markings on where my characters are going to be.  Tends to help.

Good idea.

I personally open up notepad and write the coordinates down for where each character ends up at the end of each move-event.

That way I can be like "hmm...I need to move that event now...where was it again? Oh yeah, its last move event put it at 17,24" and then go from there.
