How do I get downloaded scripts working?

First of all, I'm new to the site and I have to saw awsome job on the scripts. I downloaded a few that I think will be very helpfull in the rpg I'm making.

These are the scripts that I downloaded from this site:
-Real time active battler
-Multi-equip
-Econemy System
-limit break

I download the file and it appears as a "RAR File" And has the unknown program icon.
My question being, what do i do with this file? Do I have to select open with program and find rpg maker or somthing? I was thinking that I put the file in a folder for rpg maker or somthing.Thanks for your help.

you must download a program to open the .rar files.
I use WinRar, but I think something like WinZip will also do the job, just google it. The .rar file contains a project file in which the scripts are displayed and usually also a demo which shows the functions. You can just copy the scripts out of the demo and paste them into your project

project file? Which file would that be? Also when clicking on ither "Game(RGSS Player)" or "Game(RPG Maker Xp Project)" I get an error that shows

"Project could not be read due to incompadability between software versions"

Is there a newer version of RPG Maker XP I should download? If so where can I find it?
