How do I create a race in RMXP?

Hi! I am using RMXP and need to know how to create a racing challenge between 2+ characters. I want to make that something happens when the player reaches the goal, think of the race in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 1 between Riku and Sora, OR the chocobo races in FFX?

Kinda like that. How do I create such a race challenge (running competition) in RMXP?

The only thing I don't know how to do is how to detect the place:
Let's say if two persons race, and you're really good, you are 1st, but if you're bad, you're at 2nd place. How to detect the race order (1st, 2nd etc..)?

Dude, I was so excited when I first read your topic, because I thought you meant race as in Black, White, Asian, etc. And I had all sorts of ideas to modify the original RPG Maker XP classes in order to include race and ethnicity. But then I was bummed out.

Try eventing it. Just draw invisible blocks around the race track, give your opponent a defined track, and put some more invisible blocks at the finish line. Or you could try coding it?

No I don't think I'll be able to code it, but anyway, the only thing I don't know how to do is how to detect the place:

Well, that's really easy. When your opponent reaches the finish line he activates switch A. When you get to the finish line, you see if switch A is active. If it is, then you're second. If it's not, you're first.

i personally recommend using a path finding script for your competitor, you can add things to speed them up or slow them down how ever you want, i made a race once. i might be able to dig it up if you are interested. i at least have the script bar none.

Ok, thank you, but I have figured it out! Very easy, and I have made different speed increasers/decrasers as well^^
