Hotel Dusk

Okay, so I've been off the DS scene for awhile. I got myself a PSP, and have been content with that. Until now. I don't know what it was about this game that caught my eye, but I'm glad it did. It's not out in england yet, and I couldn't even find it on amazon.co.uk, but it is in america.

So, Hotel Dusk, it's a detective story similar to Pheonix wright and Trace memory (I think the names are different in america and england). The DS is held on its side, and its sorta like an old point and click game. Heavy on the dialog, but with very deep characters and a great graphical style. The rooms and such to be explored are done in 3d, but for character close ups and movement and such, you get these nifty handrawn pictures. Take a look on gamespot, at the first video, and you'll understand.

I been wanting to play this since I first heard of it. Unfortunately all the places around here are sold out. I didn't expect such a niche under the radar title to sell out like that. It might be credited to the fact that most places that had it only got one or two copies. Apparently you need to reserve these kind of things. A shame but I will probably have to hold out another week.

*Nods* I loved Trace Memory, and my main complaint about it was that it was far too short of a game...but they left it open for a sequel.

I really want to play this one, so when I get some extra cash I'm gonna go searching for it (Recently got the new Castlevania game for the DS, and it's awesome as well.)

Pretty fun, but there's a lot of talking. I like holding the DS sideways, more games should be like this. If you're the kind of person who likes to sit and play a game for hours and hours(in which case I wonder why you own a portable if you're never mobile) I'd pass on this. Its fun in 30 minute to hour long increments.
