Help with sprites please?

I need help with sprites... I got the sheet and used photoshop to make it and when I put it into rpg maker xp, the sprite has a white box on it when it is in use and I can still see the black parts from the image.

First, it's good to make sure that you're saving as a .png file, to support transparency.

Second, when you import it, you can choose white as the transparent color, which should get rid of those white boxes.

Third, you can always edit the image a bit more to get rid of the unwanted bits-- that's what a tiny brush size and the eraser tool are good for.

I strongly recommend "Graphics Gale" instead of photoshop, it's much more confortable to work with, since it's mainly made to sprite with. Well actually, it depends on the user, not the program. But still, I think GG is better then PS.

Definitely need to get rid of those black bits first.  Use either Graphics Gale or just MSPaint and erase those suckers away.  I typically add a colored background, just for my own purposes, make sure there's no stray pixels, stuff like that.  Save it ONLY as either a bmp or a png file.
