Help with character sprite

Hi new to the forums but not new to rmxp.

I have one question about sprites, whenever I implement some of the ones ive made the background is not tranparant, such as the battlers Ive made theres a white(or whichever the background of my sprite pics where) box, and its not tranparent. How do I fix this?

Oh and how do I resize my sprites so they actually fit because some of the ones ive downloaded from charas generator are too big tot he point where the game where it only show 1/4 of the sprite

The size issue is probably from trying to use XP sprites for VX or vice versa.  The sprite templates are different, so they're not compatible unless you edit them further.  For transparency, I use Paint.net, but you should be able to set transparency when importing graphics.

So it automatically makes it tranparent when I import it....well I have been using "Save" and "save as"

If you use the import function, it allows you to choose a transparent color.
