Yeah, like the title says... help pl0x!

Copy/pasted from PWOYM:

"I've gone through all sorts of themes, I mean, for the last few weeks I've been really digging the comic book theme, thinking of having contrasting arms, one arm with heroes, the other with villains, but then I'd have to pick which heroes and villains I want lol. I've also thought about going Japanese style with the lotus flowers and carp and stuff, y'know? I want it to be colourful whatever it is anyways"

To be honest, I think I WILL go with a comic book theme since, well yeah, I'm a pretty big comic book nerd (Looks to his left... sees a shelf filled with comics and posters all over the wall), so yeah... guess a design based around that is the best idea.

If you guys have any ideas and layouts and such, feel free to put 'em here, even do some doodles or basic layouts using MS Paint or Photoshop or whatever, y'know? Help would very much be appreciated!

Yeah, I think I will, since I'm about 99% sure I'll still enjoy comic books and videogames when I'm an old fart lol, I mean, my grandad has been buying comic books since the early 60's, and still buys them regularly now lol, and he's in his late 70's, so I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the theme.

... Wow.

A sleeve tattoo is a tattoo that covers your entire arm...

Dumbass. :shades:

I've got three Canadians on my Skype that are helping me with the designs and they all call it a sleeve... maybe it's just you? And I'm pretty sure other Canadians here call it a sleeve too

imo most tattoos are silly (i've been quite shot down on this opinion many times already on this forum so i won't get into it).

but do yourself a favor and SHOP AROUND for a tattoo artist and BE CAREFUL about who does it (and expect to pay a premium). you never want to go discount on a tattoo ... something that'll be on you forever. a friend of mine went "discount" at a relatively cheap shop for a shoulder/back tattoo. the tattoo was mostly okay (mostly hawaiian flowers & designs), but the coloring was very not great and ended up having to be touched up several times at other places (getting darker and darker each time ... now the flowers are strangely "morbid-looking" because they had to use so many shadows to cover the poor coloring of the 1st go).

just be careful i guess :P.

getting someone to do fine details like peoples' faces and correct proportions will end up a LOT harder to "fix" or "touch up" later on.

also arm tattoos are problematic in men because men often go through periods of "hulking up" through working out, and sagginess or "deflation" from periods of not working out. (this also happens just via the aging process, if you somehow maintain the exact same level of activity your whole life).

So most sleeve tattoos on the bicep/tricep areas should not contain a lot of fine detail -- it will be periodically stretched, expanded, and retracted, over the course of your life. So most sleeves on the biceps/triceps that still look good 10+ years down the road are ones with simple designs, patterns, or thick lines without much detail (or ones with so much abstract detail, you can't tell it's undergone a lot of stretching).

Save the fine details like faces for your forearms & shoulders -- the skin on them changes very little (on average) over the course of your adult life.

just offering some tatt advice (i don't have any myself, but most of my friends have them, and this is just info they've given me b/c i'm always scientifically curious).

also a last FYI: wherever you get a tattoo with black "ink", you may be forbidden from ever having an MRI/CT scan done there. Not a big deal on your arm but -- lol -- avoid breaking it. (Black tattoo "ink" usually contains gunpowder, which can possibly overheat or "pop" during advanced body radiology scans.)

in tattoos' defense though, i have considered getting atleast 1 done to cheaply cover a surgery scar (instead of opting for more expensive plastic surgery). i'm still on the fence about it though. /shrug

I already have someone who I want to do my tattoo, he's my dads mate, been his friend for over 30 years (And actually I've been mates with his son for about 10 years now), and is pretty famous around here, he specialises in characters and portraits... from what I've been told he's actually pretty expensive too, but he's agreed to give me a discount since he knows my dad so well, lol.

Well I actually like the tattoo itself, But don't overdoes on it since it looks really disgusting,
and the tattoo is really hard and costly to remove, so you might want to think about that too.

I'd rather suggest one, small tattoo in your arm than the full sleeve tattoo.

Bad Example of overuse.
