hey im new to the rmxp program and im having trouble understanding scripts.

my questions
ill just sum them up into one. could you explain how to work scripts. like when it says to set X variable to this...i cant remmembr what script that was... i guess i just need a general how to for putting scripts in my game...

Thanks in advance for reading that jumble of crap lol.

Well, if your going to want to learn more about scripts your best bet is to learn how to read RGSS. Try checking online for a few tutorials and whatnot, or open up a new game and play around with the exisiting scripts to learn.

As for adding scripts, just find one on rmxp.org and cut/paste it.

Open up the script editor in RMXP and float around a little bit. Try to understand how windows are created first in the Window_XXXXX classes, because windows and maps are basically the front-end of what is seen by the player. Fiddle with changing the font size of menu text or shifting things up and down to get a feel for the syntax. Having a past programming experience helps, so tutorials will be necessary to understand what an object oriented programming language is.

If you need specifically an explanation on how to insert scripts, check out my Script Integration guide (link in my signature), which should cover some general basics as well. There are also some other tutorials, such as the Windows Guide, which covers the very basics of creating windows within a scene.
