Help I am having a problem with events switches

When I set an event in one map and have the event that I want to trigger in another map but then I have a map that I half to walk through to get to where the event is that I want to trigger the event is gone and will not appear even know I set a switch to make it appear????? Also the map are 2 different room  and one main town map. So you start in the first room where you trigger the switch for an event then it is out the door in to the town map then through another door an then you are in the room where the event is suppose to be. 
Please tell me what I am doing wrong

What is it exactly you are trying to do? Not exactly understanding what you are asking so if you give us an example i will probably understand the question better.
