Hello HBGames.ORG, and I have a question...

Hi everyone. I am developing a simple Android strategy game and have been searching the web for graphics resources.

I chanced upon HBGames.ORG and am very impressed with the large collection of quality graphics! :thumb:

I will hence like to ask if these graphics can be used in my android game, or is there any thorny licensing or copyright issues that I should be aware of?

You'll have to ask the people that made the graphics before you use them, but I reckon the majority won't really mind, although you'll have to give credit where it is due, don't pass any of it off as your own work etc.

Thanks for the info and I definitely will like to give credit to the original artwork artist when my game is launched. :wink:

May I ask how to know if the graphics is made by a member in this forum, or is it ripped from existing game?

For example, when I click into the graphics under 'Resources', most of the "License, Credits, or Additional Information" is "Not applicable". Does this implies that it is made by a member and is okay for me to use it?

Also, since there is no 'Author' field, how can I find out who is the maker of the graphics? (Is it by the first word before underscore in the filename?)

Most of the graphic resources have the author in the filename. If you find something questionable, let us know & we'll try to find the author.

anything in the "Resources" section is 'up for grabs' unless otherwise specified. Again, if questionable, let us know.

It doesn't have any license info but has the word finalfantasy5 in the filename. In this case is it ripped from FF5 hence subjected to copyright, or is it member contributed hence I can use it?

I don't know. I didn't play any of the FF's, so we'll have to refer to someone who has.

That is FF Material. That will fall in subject to their licensing.
