I bring this up cuz this has been happening a lot... Have you ever saw a forum topic that interests you so you open it not look at how many pages or comments are there? Then you begin to read, and no matter how short the posts, want to give up? Or you feel lazy and just read the first post and reply ignoreing what everybody else said? I personally give up and find a new topic...

I debate with myself quite much. Depends on my mood. If it's really interesting, I usually read the first post and some of the replies, then post. Usually, though, I just skip the thread and go look for a shorter one.

It depends entirely on the subject at hand.

But I'm more willing to read a long post that's got four-liner-paragraphs with spaces in between than to read a short post that's 10 lines of block text, no matter what the subject is.

None of the above. I usually ignore the opening post and everything else in the thread and make a comment anyway.

eta: Like I just did.

I do a mix of options one and two. I read the first post the whole way through, then if I'm still interested, I skim the posts in the thread to see what direction the thread has gone as well as what has already been said.

If I have something I wish to contribute, I post.
