Harry Potter 7

Are you looking forward to the new harry potter book? What mysteries do you want to see solved most? What are you most looking forward to seeing? What do you expect to happen? 11 days!

Well, for me at least, the series died when Sirius did.

If he comes back as a ghost, I suppose that would be a little redeeming.

Spoilers damnit > : |

Because god forbid they kill a character, not to mention one you like!

Well I can't insult properly as I haven't read these books, was the way he died contrived in a way just so the author could throw in a 'dead character' thing?
Also, USE SPOILERS

EDIT: I'm not looking forward to it at all because I don't ever plan on reading any of these books. Well, I think a while ago I read the first, and found it unimpressive, and didn't bother reading the rest. Don't really remember.

I remember reading them as a child, but by the time the forth book came out she was writing them more for adults than kids.

The first book is 223 pages long which is a pretty decent length for a kids book. But by the time you get to book 5, (I read one to four and was given 5 as a present) it is 766 pages long which is far to long for what is essential, a kids book and also a huge 250 pages bigger than LOTR, The Fellowship of the ring.

God knows how big 7 is going to be

snape dies while protecting harry from voldemort ala harry's mother

i'm looking forward to this less as something to SAVOR AND ENJOY and more as something to get out of my way so the internet focuses on it less. outside of the initial HEY THATS PRETTY COOL i never really liked the series that much.

It's going to be quite a bit shorter than OotP. I believe there is an actual page count somewhere, it's in the 600s.

Anyways, I've had my copy reserved since not long after you could reserve it. I'm picking it up at about 2:00AM on the day it comes out. I have to go to work that day, but I'll still be done before night.

I get mine delivered at about 10 o'clock on Saturday morning, so I can read it all day without being tired =]

Why use spoilers when you shouldn't even be discussing the book if you haven't read the others?
Also, yes, the death was highly contrived. It was just sort of, "Yeah, so he gets hit by this other evil dude." It would be like Achilles or Ajax going down in battle like an average soldier, stabbed or slashed by some random peon soldier.
You can't just kill the one cool character your series has going for it. Tolkien killed Boromir knowing that nobody would really like him. He was basically Aragorn, but not as cool. Think about if Aragorn died instead. Bam. Series killer.

I felt really nerdy about pre-ordering it pretty much the day it was available, but you've all made me feel quite a deal better.

There's been so much publicity about this last book, that, from what I've seen, the latest movie isn't being paid attention to as much as it deserves. I adore the books, don't get me wrong, but the movies are sooo good too.

Also. If Harry dies I'm totally burning all my copies of the series.

... Well, probably not, but it would be horribly disappointing. And since everyone is like "Omg, Harry's going to DIE!", and now that it's completely expected, it would be way cooler on J.K. Rowling's part to just let him live.

This is why I moderate this section, because I don't care about this book or it's series, thus I'm free to read whatever I want. It's a spoiler, thus it should BE in a spoiler, regardless of whether I know it or not. Because other people that don't know it (but are in this thread because they are reading the series but haven't read all of them...) would have their story time fun ruined. You know, like how people spam

SNAPE KILLED DUMBLEDORE PG. 640

when that book came out.

Hedwig dies in Chapter 4, Mad-Eye Moody dies in the next chapter. Haven't gotten past that point yet, updates at 7

It's not a good thing, but I don't have much sympathy for them considering the amount of arrogant boasting they were making over their security in news magazines.

Oh. Man, I feel cheated. All I had to do was buy a shirt?

I really disagree. The story has taken a darker turn with each book, to have it enter fanciful happyland at the end would be rather dull.

It was linked to me from dirtyworker.com, but they don't seem to actually sell it. Also I edited my post to include the actual image, since it was giving a hotlinking error.

Well, it is sort of common courtesy not to kill the main character, especially if they've been in a whole series of books.

It'd be like Cade dieing by the end of Master of the Wind, Arc 7.
I believe I hear the sound of Volrath frantically rewriting his plot...

Man, that was very cool. Death tour of a book I desperately need to finish my collection.

Yes, I have all 6 books up to this point, and need the last one to complete it. I read all of them too except for 7.

I'm going to say that this shirt is bogus... It just seems too much like a cop out from J.K.

Pretty much all the things taht the fans want comes to pass? That's just a little too convienent. I'm sure some of the people that the shirt says dies are going to die, but I'm going to call a lot of it bogus.

But we'll see for sure on Saturday... You know the Internet is going to be alive with talk of book as soon as it's released at 12:01 AM Saturday morning.
