Basically its about Will Smith as a drunken smartmouth with superpowers named John Hancock. Whenever there is danger he somehow diverts it but doesnt exactly always "come to the rescue". Because of this, he is hated by the community, and blah blah. I wont say too much about the plot, its pretty basic and cliche.

I saw this last Friday and have to say it was pretty good. I like Will Smith, he's had his bad partake of movies (Wild West, Hitch) but this and I Am Legend were both generally good. And unlike IAL, this is much more comical. The story is sorta iffy and at some parts it tries to be more serious than it actually is, but overall its a pretty good summer film to see. The acting is pretty good, not amazing, but it keeps you interested. The biggest flaw in my opinion is that its too obvious at some points, but like I said its a summer film so Im not going to pick it apart too much.

But yeah, its worth seeing if you like Will Smith or just want a laugh. Anyone else seen it or want to?

am i the only one who thought that the whole wife is a superhero too lol was predictable? after that it seemed to get a bit cheezy and prettty much shat all over the original premise which was what drew me to the movie in the first place.

I just saw it yesterday..

The ending was yet again pretty 'american'.. as in.. a happy ending.
Not that I found that to be mismatching the entire movie.. but it could've been performed less predictable..

I really didnt know she was until I saw it was Charlize Theron (then I was like DUH) but yeah, it was really dumb. And the whole shit with WE WERE MARRIED LOL and how serious it got when he was taking shots for her, idk all that was a little too much. Plus the villain wasnt very memorable or anything and there were only like 3 major fights in the movie. Most of it was a little too obvious if you ask me.

LOL HEART ON THE MOON! Meh, I could tell it was predictable. It would have been more gay if Hancock wouldve died, then I would have walked out of the theater. The Mike Epps thing was kinda funny at the end, though.

Is it true that he stops being a jackass?

Because him being a rude, drunken, jackass the whole movie would make me want to see this more.

no. he's SORT OF NICE sometimes but it's clear that he's like struggling to fake it. being a dick is pretty deep in his personality which is something i like about it.

Saw this today.

I actually enjoyed the fact that there was no main villain in the movie, it allowed you to focus on Hancock in particular a little more. The little bit of cheesyness that worked its way in near the second half of the film didn't before me all that much, if at all. It was a really enjoyable movie, and it was great to see a sort of superhero movie that didn't spend the most part of the film explaining how all the powers came about, didn't spend ages throughing obvious facts at you to 'try' and give depth to the character and didn't stress some sort of responsibilty meaning till I wanted to scream.

I was quite smitten with Hancock character, he spoke for himself, they didn't much the whole badass loner thing to far, and when it came for him to turn the other cheek, they didn't push the 'he's a nice guy' thing to far.

The only thing I would have like was a little more insight into the species that Hancock and the PR's wife were, so long as it was absent of the long boring descriptions. It seemed the whole 'we're a pair of some species that has powers' was repeated a few times throughout some scenes, three times if I remember correct. Once would have sufficed and a little more depth into the characters and there species would been great.

That said, Hancock was a great character none the less. Really nice movie.
