Well, after a very... very long lurking time period, I've decided to be bit more active, both in my RPG Maker work and forum posting. Small warning... some people may consider this tl;dr ...
Let's see... Per MISSINGNO.'s "rules"...
Greetings all! This is Keradon (my username) broadcasting from the heart of chaos known as Ohio.
Past Experience with RPG Maker, and how I "found" this place: I first downloaded RPG Maker XP soon after it's initial english release. (To put it into perspective, this was actually before the patch that corrected certain graphical bugs in the Database screen.)
I was tinkering with it, and found it to be quite interesting. At that point, I began scouring the internet for more information. I had also begun a habit of lurking in forums, including this one, for information.
How long have I been lurking?: My username was registered in 2006, so that should tell you something... I also remember rmxp.net for anyone who's been here a very long time... but after a few years of lurking and maintaining a casual level of interest, I've grown even more interested in this program and would like to do more with it.
What really helped renew my interest was Bolt's RMXP Basics Tutorial. (Thread here: http://www.rmxp.org/forums/index.php?topic=42260.0 ) (Much props to Bolt, btw, for fantastic, inspiring work.)
What can I do so far? What am I good at?: Right now, I've got a few, very unfinished projects on the table. (Not even demo-worthy) Mostly experiments in the various functions of the program, timing experiments, event generating, etc... just toying around with what I can do. I'm a semi-decent writer and event designer/planner. I can also make fairly clean, organized maps, though my details could use some work. I'm still striving towards improving my custom graphics and music making abilities. I've glanced at the RGSS to make sense of it, but I'm definitely wanting to explore what I can do there, as well. (So yes, I'll soon be browsing the Academy to start on those topics.)
Hmm, what else...
Hobbies/Interests: Beyond the RPG Maker series... well, gaming obviously... casual programming, computer tinkering and research. I've also taken a rather unwholesome interest in creating Something similar to the Elder Scrolls games, but in turn based form. This is mostly as a gift for the lady wife. I'm also currently studying the various programming languages, mostly to have a versatile arsenal of anything I would need, development-wise. Eventually, I'll be procuring my own copy of RPG Maker VX, mostly to enhance my versatility and experience. My main development platform, however, will be XP.
What I hope to get from this forum: A centralized location to develop my game making skills to a higher level. Honest critique, suggestions, and ideas would also be appreciated. Having the chance to contribute my own ideas and abilities to other projects is also hoped for. Being able to hang out and work with some fantastic people here... that's gonna be a bonus. I would also like to see a return of uploading custom content and resources to be hosted here, but I can improvise something in the interim.
So that's me in a nutshell... ok a nutshell the size of an SUV, but still...
