I'm Kayil, nice to meet you all. I signed up several days ago (I think. May have only been yesterday or something) but never got around to posting.

I had an account here during the .net era, though I don't even remember what it was. However, I was one of the losers always begging for resources and spitting out crappy project topics. Hopefully, those days are over :D

When I heard from my friends that RMVX was released, I tried it out. Didn't like it too much. I love the graphical style, I love most of the systems, but like most people, I find myself unable to work with the limited mapping. I could barely map worth a damn with XP. Without layers, I can't do much more than an empty field. But the good thing about VX was it got me interested in RMXP again. So, I intend to play around with it a bit, post about the forums, and eventually conceive a project topic that will inevitably go nowhere.

Meh, the mapping isn't that bad once you get used to it.  Just different is all =p  The rest is pretty neat, and hopefully soon, we'll start seeing more custom resources and scripts for VX.

But its funny that I was brought back to the community by the release of VX as well - same as me =p

I find mapping to be more basic, and picture it easier to learn.
Then again I find most things others find a little confusing to be easier.

VX's mapping system is a pain in the ass, though I think you just need to get out of "XP mapping mode" in order to really tolerate it. Heh, I still give it some low scores yet I've already bought the dang thang. :x

Kayil, I hope your stay is enjoyable one and you contribute more so than your past self. Feel free to ask questions when you need help or help others if you can. And don't feel bad about asking for resources either. For the most part we enjoy honing are various crafts I assure you.

Thank you all for the welcomes. I've spent the last couple days looking at screenshots and project topics, and VX is starting to win me over a bit. However, I'm unsure if I should go with RMXP (Which I legally own), or RMVX, which I still have to buy. Do you guys anticipate RMXP support for at least the next 6 months?

Not currently, no.

RMXP will not go away any time soon.  The two are different enough I don't see one replacing another, or being destroyed by the other any time within 6 months to say the least.  Maybe in a year we'll have a different majority, but the site is still XP by a landslide.
