The name of this particular 'casual project' is called 'Game play Mechanics: Role-Playing game'. I'm making it in Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition using C# 3.0 as a base language. The overall purpose here is to code the basic game play mechanics used in a role-playing game.
The ultimate goal is to code a role-playing game out of this, and use the mechanics base classes to seed another project that I won't mention here. I've got no main characters just yet, so I'll update this topic as things progress.
I'm a big fan of the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy series, so don't be surprised if you see some sort of pseudo Medieval adventure with swords and sorcery, and a touch of science thrown in.
I'll also be doing something I haven't done in a while, and picking up a pen tablet to help aid this project. The art will surely suck from the start, but I hope to shake out the cobwebs as I progress through it.
I'm probably going to need assistance with other art assets; however, I have a few friends in the professional ranks that could point me in the direction of a few ... affordable 2D art design studios.
This is still a casual project, because I'm seeing if all the experience I've accrued over the past 14 years is worth its weight in gold or just a load of bollocks.
