Good PC RPG's

Hey,

I'm looking for good, non-online PC RPG's.
The Final Fantasy kind ^^
I already have Phantasy Universe and the Expansion, but what other games do you reccommend?

peacee

The Final Fantasy kind?

Keep searching.  Unless you want games that are untranslated, the PC is home to a very different kind of RPG.  Unless you want me to list those I won't even bother.

EDIT: Septerra Core is about as close to "final fantasy" style rpg you're going to get on the PC.

Yeah, there really isn't a very large selection of traditional turn-based battle RPG's on the PC. The reason? They don't play very well without a controller. KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) & KOTOR 2 are excellent RPG's that are ... Well, they're not turn-based, per se, but they're not action-based.

Otherwise, you're looking at point & click interface-style games, such as RTS's, FPS's, Action games, and the occasional mixed-genre game that have RPG elements (like Elder Scrolls or The Witcher).

Every Final Fantasy was released for the PC...provided you use an emulator. SNES, PSX are pretty well developed by now, and the PS2 emulate is getting better. Plus, Romhacking.net provides a slew of translations for A LOT of RPGs.

Yeah I know, i played FF 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 on the PC, now im waiting for a working PS2 emulator so I can play FFX, X-2, and the other ones :P

Fable would have been better received if they had managed to keep Peter Molyneux's expansive gob shut during production. If you're promised a smoothie and get a strawberry instead, that strawberry is going to be one bitter little monster to chew. :x

I just recently got my first PC myself (and promptly discovered what I later found to be one of the most pretense-receptive programs on Earth,) so excuse me while I use this topic to leech for myself. Personally, though, Barkley Shut Up And Jam looks pretty promising; games that don't take themselves uberseriously (and often fall hilariously short of their own standards) are always a treat. :>

If you like D&D rpg play Baldur's Gate 1 + 2 are Bioware classics.  That's the game that put the maker of KOTOR and Neverwinter Nights on the map.  Should run easily on any low end machine and be really cheap.
