Goku (DBZ characters)

Hey all, I've just recently started to mess around with RMXP and I'm working on a little Dragonball project, however as much as I could probably learn to script and all, art really kills me...I'm not good at it. I needed a main character sprite so I tried making Goku in GraphicsGale, here's what I came up with... It's my first sprite ever, so I'm pretty sure it sucks :) I've been reading tutorials and all but I'd still love to hear what specific I'm doing wrong and how I could improve this before I move on to all of the other characters... Thanks.

Well two things I see. He's really stiff. Like tree stif and straight. It makes it look strange.
The hair has almost no shading. He could really use some cool hair.

Awesome Bro

Dayum talk about using too many colours, look how many shades your using ! You should stick to around 3-4 shades per colour, not like 8, unless you're doing something REALLY big, and a little contrast wouldn't hurt either.

What I see wrong;
Too many shades.
No/Not enough contrast
Pillow Shading

What I suggest;
Redrawing him (Yeah, might sound bad, but we can offer help), with more realistic proportions, and using less shades for your colours, stick to 3-4 shades, and remember these rules;
For light, tint your colour yellow.
For shadows, tint your colour blue.

Maybe you'd be better using the RMXP RTP Template.
