I'm surprised no one has started a topic about this yet.

Gears of War 2 came out last Friday. As much as I wanted to get it then, I had to wait a bit. So, I got it Wednesday evening. So far, I've barely started the campaign in solo, and haven't tried co-op. The campaign starts off nice, and instead of collecting cog tags throughout the game, there are various collectibles.
A really nice feature is the fact that they actually show your progress towards achievements which can come in really handy for the large ones (playing 1999 rounds online, killing 100,000 enemies).
Online is fun, but the matchmaking system takes a while. Horde is a bitch, too, with 50 waves of locust that get boosts to their stats every 10 waves pummeling you and four others. Yes, that's right, parties have been increased from four to five people making a total of ten per match. Unfortunately, you can't choose which side to play on, nor does one person host the match, and it won't start until all slots are filled.

On the plus side, game types and maps are now open for voting once a match is made. Another good thing is that all new copies of Gears 2 come with a code to download the Flashback Map Pack free. Included are a few maps you might recognize, but they have been updated. Gridlock is overgrown with vegetation, Canals is icy, and I have not yet played the other three, Subway, Tyro Station, and Mansion.
Over all I think it is a very fun game.
