Games Manager Beta

Games Manager Beta

An oft requested feature, a games manager, is under production. Actually I started it this morning, but nonetheless, it is now in "Beta" in that you members can test it if you want to.

It is found as a subforum of Completed Games currently.

removed link
its still there its just hidden below the well of my spell~

Game listing: viewforum.php?f=248

Some quirks:

- Dummy thread. Due to how I scripted it. This will be hidden. Don't reply to it, please.

You can edit individual sections after posting your game.

You can also do as people do on myspace - that is, profile hacks - using bbcode to change the look and layout of your game's page, if you know what you are doing. A simple modification is adding a download button in place of a link, done by changing the download link to .

If this system is fully implemented it will have moderator approval on submission. After that you're free to edit it however you like.

what's strange is that it seems exactly like a normal thread except.... yea it's the same thing. It has a poll rating, which is the exact and only thing differnet (i might be wrong, please point it out to me). I don't see any reason for it to be there, except as a sort of gimmick/feature. I'd recommend adding this poll/rating feature to other threads, not make a forum that does the exact same thing as what we've already got

i'm sorta undecided on the graphical changes of it.

The intention is to create a game manager: like the resource/script archive, you can search through them, post comments, follow development blogs, and post your own reviews. It's basically a more organized, templated game section. While it may be graphically similar to regular threads (and I'm sure como can fix that if it bothers people), its function should make browsing for games easier.

Awesome Bro

There should be something so the author could change the title name.
Say if someone makes a mistake and only realises it after they posted.

Ooh yeah, a reviews section, then when, yes, when, the eZine is started again, we could grab some of the reviews and slap them in, lol... maybe?

If you edit "subject" when you click "edit description" that should work.

Great start. Options like a devblog, the posibility to post reviews in a section etc. would make it perfect.

They're in the works.

Yes, absolutely.

Oh dear I already screwed up oh dear

(I submitted the submission form by accident x_x)

EDIT: Oh, I see I'm not the first!

I'll clean up the forum when it's a confirmed and full release.

Indeed, but more than a fair few people have requested such an improvement.

It makes them feel more like released games, and keeps everything neat and tidy, such as download links and such. It also makes them feel more official and less like a project thread.

The submit button looks like a text entry field though ;_;

Also, to be honest, I prefer the kind of game pages they have at rpgmaker.net. All the images have their own pages, with a separate comments section on each. You can have separate pages of information, and you can make blog posts. It's good, because it's really a lot like having your own website, while still having it linked to a bigger site where it will get seen. They also have links to all the new games/screenshots/featured game etc etc plastered all over the main page (The main page is the logo, a navigation bar and piles and piles of games/new posts.)

It makes it easier to comment on separate parts of the game(which gets more responses, and while each will be shorter, in the end it all adds up to the same amount of content(actually more imo) spread out a bit further). The way the system is currently set up, it can make you feel like you have to give a detailed list of all the things you can think of, and while it is nice when that happens, often it just doesn't seem worth it (after al, you don't get anything back) and in the end no feedback is given.
