GAME DESIGN VS GAME DEVELOPMENT
Game Design is about the creative aspect of video-games, creating characters, settings, environments, stories at production stage and also creating (designing ) the rules and content at the pre-production stage
Game Development is actually more broad and involves design but here I'm referring to the actual development such as programming, testing and the software development process in creating a commercial video-game.
Which one is better to take as a course in university and or just generally.
Supposing you are balanced at both the required design and development skills, which one would be more rewarding and benefiting to do as a profession if you had to single down on one of the two sectors of the video-game industry.
Also who earns the biggest pay ( besides the publisher/producers ) and what would you ( if you are interested in working in the video-game industry ) would you wish to be or do out of:
> The Artists ( Character designers, Environment, *UI design, Concept Art e.t.c )
> The Sound Engineer ( Technical professionals responsible for sound effects, voice acting, music e.t.c )
> The Testers ( Analyzes the game to document any defects and overall quality )
> The Programmers ( *AI, *UI, Sound, Game-play e.t.c )
> The Level Designers ( Create levels, challenges for the game with a built-in engine for the game )
(* AI = Artificial Intelligence , UI = User Interface )
If your already doing one of these courses, I would appreciate it if you could share how its like, what the work like, if you enjoy it or not and any other experience.
