  • RMXP Multiplayer Pong by Xilef

Classic 2 player Pong remade in RPG Maker XP.

Story Synopsys:Play with a friend and find out who truely is the RMXP Pong master. The two paddles have been rivals for many years now. They finally battle it out with the RPG Maker XP engine.
    Characters:
Left Paddle - This paddle has seen alot of action in it's time, ever since pong was first designed this paddle has always been there. There are rumours that this paddle is the same one as the Super Break Out paddle. Player one controls this paddle and uses W and S to move.

Right Paddle - The right side paddle is the enemy of the left side paddle. The right side paddle is thought to be an evil clone of the left paddle, as they are almost identical in appearance. The right paddle started it's rivalry with the left paddle after his first ever defeat in a Pong compition with the left paddle. Player two controls this paddle and uses Up and Down to move.

Note
If the ball gets stuck or starts glitching, hold Z on the keyboard until it stops. Holding Z will make the ball restart at a random side.

Looks nice? It isn't even 8 bit :s
It's best to play with a friend aswell, as this is 2 player pong :-/
Xilef, things can look nice even its just 8 bit. I played it with myself, thats funny:D

I'll need help if I were to make it online. I have an idea of how to do it, but I dont know how to make the controls for the two players.

It's all 100% events. The ball's x and y variables are constantly logged, and if the y matches a certain side of the paddle's y at a certain x then a movement direction is caused and if the y is inbetween certain numbers at a certain x then it's a goal. If the ball's x is at a certain point then it moves in a certain direction, it's all illusionary AI and illusionary physics.
The concept is alot easier to understand than the event system itself. It took me 2 hours, 1 of those two hours was creating it and the other was redoing what i had just done in another order.

Nice idea. Too bad events are so limited with their movement. I've found a bug, when trying to hit the ball at a high speed of a paddle, the ball stops. I don't suppose you'd mind me redoing it in RGSS. would you? ;)
