I am a big fan of flash animation, particularly because its fun, generic, and as homemade as the games we make with RPG Maker XP. Of the many flash animation distribution sites there are, one of my favorite is Albinoblacksheep.
Anyways, in august of '06, I saw a new game posted on albino titled "Fredryk Phantasy". I thought it would be a flash game that I could play in my browser, but instead it was a linked game that looked huge. I decided to download it, and I was impressed. I beat it in a period of six hours of play. It was incredible! Once it was over, I looked in the credits and I saw it was mentioned that the Engine that was used to make it was called "RPG Maker XP".
That was how I was introduced to RPG Maker XP. Through a game hosted on a popular flash animation site. I always wanted to somehow get something hosted on Albinoblacksheep, and I began thinking it might be cool to maybe try and convince AB (the sites owner) To host some of the games that are made here. I PM'd him about it and he responded, saying that the only reason Fredryk was hosted was because it was made by a commoner to Albinoblacksheep, and rmxp games must be played with a program that must be installed on the computer, but Khad (the games creator) had found a way around this. Finally, the games took up a huge amount of space (This was according to AB, Phantasy actually had an incredible sound file which made it a whopping 36 something MB download, zipped and encrypted).
I tried to PM AB back explaining these things to him, but I never received a response about it. I am still a visitor to Albino, but I have omitted myself to the forums, occasionally loging back in to check the PM box in hopes I receive a response from AB.
I made this topic because I wanted everybody to know this (interesting) story, as well as ask if anybody has played this game. Its funny, awesome, and, if anybody else is a fan of Albinoblacksheep, or has played Fredryk, if they would be willing to join me in making a Fredryk Phantasy 2.
