Forae's new banner! Please critique!

I just finished it! Tell me what you think about this new banner! :thumb:

Oh, about it:
Font: Episode I (Thanks to DJ!)
I antialiased it! (Thanks to onedius mad hatter!)
I got rid of the black bars at the top and bottom! (Thanks to Dr. Winston O'Boogie!)
The blue mist is Forae, an essence that exists in abundance in my game. It is being absorbed into the planet. The planet is where the game takes place and it has a moon orbiting it.

The planet thing in the middle does draw the eye away from the font..if you mean it to do that. The font is very boring though, add some effects to make it stand out a little. The brushes used aren't really adding anything and the whole piece looks very static, add some more brushes or stock images to give it more character.

And I read your game prologue, if it's set in a fantasy world and your quoting from Bill Hick's doesn't that destroy a players immersion? Even though bill hick's as a prohpet would be hillarious. Just a thought.

Lol! Bill hicks as a prophet? That would be crazy!

I guess it does ruin the immersion, but I just wanted to point out where I got the concept from. For example in ToP(Tales of Phantasia), there is a quote that says:
"If there is evil in this world, it lies in the hearts of men." However, that quote was used more so in the storyline, so I see where your getting at.

On the topic at hand, I think the utensils and tools you are referring to are in photoshop. The program I used was Paint.net, recommended by Shingu. Therefore, some of the things you said in your advice are things I might not be able to do.

It seems like EVERYONE uses PS. Maybe I should start using that then, so that I could edit the image in question according to the advice given...

I implore you to use PS, download it, do some tutorials and your stuff will improve, i'm not familiar with paint.net. And I've played ToP so I get where you're coming from...you can always make your own quote up along the same theme or lines as long as it's point gets across.

Alright...well, we'll see. The last time I used PS, I was greeted by a virus. I'll try it though.
It'll probably take me a while to get used to it.

I used the quote from bill hicks because it was real, but as you said before, it is kind of wierd to be mixed in with a fantasy game....unless....in my game your characters could do acid! That would explain the trippy backgrounds! Lol!
