I actually really like this. I know that positive critique is generally good for bupkis and really enjoy playing devil's advocate whenever I can (it makes me feel smart,) but my (admittedly lame) eyes just aren't doing it for me. I actually really like that level of detail and proportion for sprites that size -- it actually has some personality and a natural human feel to it, instead of the lego-block XP RTP dudes. I've kind of been gravitating towards larger sprites because all the small ones I've seen have been absolutely awful detailwise (or just ugly,) but I think I might have been a little hasty.
I'll leave the color scheme and shading to someone else, since my eyes suck so bad, but I think I like that too.
Damn, I just feel so lame when I can't point out anything to improve on. :\
... Oh, right, the hair. It looks a little strange is all. Seeing it originally, I thought it was a bandana (see: bad eyes,) but now that I notice it it seems misplaced somehow. If she's going to take her bangs and sweep them behind her ears, maybe flatten the end out a little? Right now it's a little bit like her hair is a straight cylinder and her ear is at the front of her face.
