First Attempt at Pixel Art!

Well I was going to do some visual edits to it, but whenever I try colouring over it, the colours have like a dark grey tint, what filetype did you save it as ? I wasn't checking o.O
But as I said, not enough contrast, everything seems too straight, where is your lightsource coming from too ? Cause I see it on the right of the body, but top of the head and arms o.O
And remember;
Light tones should be tinted yellow
Dark tones should be tinted blue

For a start, your line art isn't great. There needs to be some form of anatomy, even if it is an alien/monster thing. At the moment, it looks like it has spaghetti for it's arms and legs. Take a look at some reference pictures, and other people's work. Secondly, never use solid black or solid white in your work. It tends to look messy.
Finally, as Jbrist said, your palete is very bad. Try using the HKCP clothes pallete until you find or make a better one. Or just have a look at it and see how the different shades work:
