Firmware/MP3 Help

HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!
I got an Element 4GB MP3 w/Video. And just like my old mp3 player, when i play the songs, they stop at 10 seconds. Do i need to update the firmware? It has firmware 9.1.52 and is black, model # GC-940, 2.0" LCD Screen Lithium-ion battery. Can anyone tell me where to get a better firmware,what is wrong, has it happened to you before and did you solve it. I don't want to have to convert everything to WAV again. It take too long.
AND I DON'T THINK I HAVE THE RECEIPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $60.00 GONE TO WASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your new MP3 player and your old MP3 player both stop after playing songs for 10 seconds, chances are there's something wrong with your songs, not the players.

Also, settle down.

Rip a fresh copy of your song from the CD, or redownload it from the store that you got it from. It might be a tad bit corrupted.

60USD gone to waste indeed, if only you'd had spent the money on a more reliable device (Zune/iPod/SanDisk/Samsung)

Make sure your mp3 player even supports WAV fully.
Besides, mp3 conversion takes like 30 seconds a song.

Honestly, if the MP3 player is within return policy, I'd return it for something else. Zunes, iPods, and several other well known ones are popular for a reason. They work, and they work well. If you don't want something quite so expensive, I'd go with SanDisk. SanDsk was founded specifically for diskless media, like mp3 players, flash storage, and SD cards. Thus, they are quite good at making it. (And their products are extremely reliable) (Also, consider this suggesgtion as one from an expert. I work with technology in a retail setting, so I know not only the products, but the customer opinions of said products)

you've probably got it set to the "Intro" play mode...play a song, and go into the menu...select a different play mode...
