Firefox gives more viruses than Internet Explorer?

I've noticed that ever since I've used Firefox, I'm getting more viruses than when I was using Internet Explorer. Is this something that happens usually? My firewall is fine, and my virus scanner is working properly.

um it's not firefox giving you viruses, it's the stupid places you go and the things you download.

there are more virus scripts written for internet explorer, but the gap is being bridged with ff's popularity.

Just download and use NoScript, an add-on for ff, so you can block all scripts and only run the scripts you won't. Since I DL'ed that I haven't gotten a single virus yet.

Of course you also have to be careful with what you download, because it doesn't matter what browser you're using, if you download malware, ain't nothing going to stop it when you open it up.

Firefox is a bazillion times more secure than IE, actually, according to every industry expert.  In additio to the NoScript addon, try Adblock, to remove the ads that tempt you into bad things.  And NEVER GO TO MYSPACE.  95% of all the viruses I've ever removed have come from that place, no joke. If you must go to myspace, here's a tip: that girl doesn't really want to cyber with you and there are no naked videos that you can only see by downloading a special codec.

it just amazes me how dumb people are sometimes. i'm not saying that you're dumb, kylebot, but the topic just reminds me of some of this stuff. i mean sometimes it just seems common sense not to download crazy shit but it's amazing the number of people that fall for this stuff.

just by browsing smartly and knowing what seems fishy, i've never ever had a problem with viruses
