Firefox 3

In case you didn't already know, Firefox 3 has been released and is much improved over version 2.  They have changed or added over 1,500 things and it runs much faster and smoother.  Firefox is still the safest browser and now alerts you whenever you enter a suspected bad site.  Another great addition is the "Awesome Bar" that seems to read your mind and selects the site you want.  All in all, I think Firefox 3.0 is a great browser and every one should make the switch as soon as possible.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD FIREFOX 3. IF YOU HAVE FIREFOX 3, DOWNGRADE TO VERSION 2

seriously i just realized that firefox 3 is horribly fucked up when it comes to zooming images. if you go to pixeljoint or pixelation (or eventually even rmxp.org hopefully), then you'd see that images don't zoom properly, and are blurred and it horribly messes up the pixels -- which is the whole point of zooming on them to begin with.

i'm personally uninstalling firefox 3 and downgrading back to 2 because of this "feature".

I just downloaded it and am using it right now. Can't see too many differences at first (which is a good thing) other than the icons looking different. Once I spend more time using it I'll probably see more nice changes. :)

So far so good.

I've been using the beta for a few weeks now, and I'm completely satisfied with it.  It actually seems like it runs smoother/faster than Firefox 2.

Just finished installing after I saw this thread. So far I'm disappointed, but that's mostly because the ad block add-on I was using is not compatible :\ I haven't seen so many ads in years.

I know when I first changed from 1.x to 2.0 the changes were really weird to get used to at first, so I'm sure once I get over the visual changes, and get a working ad blocker, I'll enjoy the other changes.

Ad-Block Plus is up and running now, just make sure you update it.  Also the handy web developer plugin is working, which is awesome for me.
I can confirm that there have been HUGE performance increases in javascript performance and stability particularly; gmail's insanely complicated-ass AJAX-based interface loads about 5x faster than it used to and doesn't crash the browser anymore (same with the Google Apps suite).

If for some reason you have something against Firefox though, check out Opera or Safari (there's a PC/Windows version now).  Anything but Internet Explorer.

I'm using it right now, and in my opinion, that "awesome bar"  seems a rip off of Safari. None the less, it provides a much more comfortable viewing experience than Safari.

I've been using Fire Fox 3 since beta 5 and have loved it,  I chose firefox after I got fed up with IE.  I noticed that Fx3 runs faster than the previous RC version.

Fx3 has already beat IE8.  O I just can't wait till my computer forces me to install IE8 and then my computer will explode.  Anyways Fx3 is the best browser out right now.

Genocide, I believe so... Now before I can see which one's better, i'm gonna get FF 3 right now and see what's so good about it.  :shades:

Nope- Official Apple release.

Why would Apple pirate their own software? I assume it's some kind of Apple download client, and not all developers get it.

I installed Firefox 3 the day it come out. Just coincidentally, I just happened to be looking for some plugins when I noticed it was Download Day.

The new Back/Forward buttons are UGLY. ugh. What were they thinking? I like the version 2 ones much better.

The Awesome Bar is anything but Awesome. I thought it searched some public database, but what it actually does is search your entire history for any website that you have visited that even just contains the typed letters. (as in, typing 'hel' would turn up results of 'hello', 'shell', 'Michelle', etc.) I don't need a search so easily accessible, especially if other people are going to be using my browser. I changed it so it only brings up results of websites that I have actually typed in myself (avoiding things like porn popup #69)

I haven't noticed any differences with speed. It seems to run just as fast as FF2. But then again I have a pretty new system, so there aren't any big bottlenecks.

The bookmark tagging feature is going in the right direction, but its too troublesome to mass-edit tags. (especially if you're going to import old bookmarks). And again, I don't need something like 'Most Visited' so easily accessible. If its the most visited I'd remember what the page was called very well.

On a related note, I totally recommend everyone to get the plug-in FireGestures. (website) It's totally, totally awesome. Down-Left and rocker gestures FTW.

--edit--
P.S. Firefox's dictionary SUCKS! afterwards, teleport, plugin, relatable, are all reported as typos and bringing up dotted red lines. grrr!!! *searches for dictionary-enhancement plugin*

Just wondering before I DL this, is NoScript compatible with it yet? I probably won't be using it until it is.

I don't care about flashy little gimmicks like "awesome bars" or anything. I just needs my address bar, the 5 main buttons, the google quicksearch bar, and my bookmarks. I may be slow to switch.

Most of the major addons are compatible, I believe no script has been compatible since beta 5.

I checked out the Windows version, and I agree- The interface is horrible. However, if you do not like the big round back button- Go into View -> Toolbars -> Customize and check "Use Small Icons".
