Final Battle Theme

Hello, UltimaEpica here. This is my first submission to the site, a final battle-ish song made using FL Studio, Garritan Personal Orchestra, and some various free internet samples. Musically wise it's not very inventive, but since I only have the free trial version of FruityLoops, I can't save my projects (just export them) so this had to be completed in a single sitting. Wow, I liked it. The only problem I have with it, is why does it just simply end? How are you going to loop it in a real boss battle? Not like the boss is gonna die in 2 minutes, unless you've just got a second version made for looping..

Otherwise, I like it.

It's not made to be looped, (the ending was kind of spontaneous) but if anyone wanted to use it in a game, I could release a looped version (minus the ending).

It's actually pretty good!!!! I wonder what this would sound like with top end plugins but this is kinda good as is.... It really got me into the feel of an epic final boss battle! Good work pal

i like it but its a bit too repetitive
I actually agree. The main reason it's repetitive is that I use the demo version of FL Studio, which allows you to export files, but not to save them. That means I had to throw this entire thing together in one sitting which is very frustrating. Rather than expanding on it, which I would love to do, I just copy/pasted the chorus and the verse and slapped on an ending. It's a shoddy way to get things done, but the only other ways to compose this would be via a MIDI program, and nobody likes that sound quality anymore. So yeah, it is too repetitive, but trust me, I'm way more pissed about that than you.

yeah by all means its not bad at all, it has a good sound to it and for doing it in one sitting, which ive sat down and done songs start to finish in one sitting before, its a pain in the ass, and you better hope you have your melody maker flowing good that day (youre melody maker would be your brain btw)

and on another note, i happen to like midi, i feel its a perfect fit for rmxp's graphics, i mean really xp/vx are somewhere in between snes and ps1 as far as graphic quality goes. i feel that super high quality orchestral music doesnt really fit very well with an oldschool 2d rpg, the samples you used do fit

either the sound quality is dodgy, or it peaks out a bit. or maybe it's just me

either way, it's pretty well done! i was expecting some more orchestral stuff which has been cropping up around here, but this was kinda heavy. add the heavy factor to the synth leads, and orchestral backing, and you have a great sounding tune.

i dont think the repetitions matter for much, because it sounds great wile it repeats itself.
well-done, mang. should make for a wonderful final boss tune!

Very good in my opinion. Reminds me of sonic for some reason, i don't know why, but it's good nonetheless. I love the pace of it, the atmosphere is dead on for an epic boss fight, it appears that it loopsalmost seamlessly as well. All in all, very good job sir, you have my blessings. Continue to make music, cause your really good at it.

These are both really good, but short like you said. I think the first one would be better if it got going a little sooner and lasted longer; I liked the last part of it but it didn't last long enough.

Well, it's not like I set out to write the next Ninth Symphony here. These are kind of what I like to call "musical thoughts", sort of like the musical equivalent of a novella. Not the same, huge, epic experience of a 1,000-page book, but enjoyable in its own brief way. Also, these were just made to be used for cutscenes or trailers or whatnot, not BGM or, say, a battle theme.
I can't really understand why you would want to extend "Intense Scene". The beginning is very long already, the middle is repetitive (and thus would get boring if extended) and the ending's the whole purpose of the song, which I think I pulled off decently. If anything, I'd shorten that one rather than lengthen it. As for "End of the World", well, same argument as before; it's just a musical thought.
I'll probably find the time to compose a massive, epic, ten-minute-long song worthy of Uematsu, but these are just for the time being.

what sound fonts are you using for end of the world, i like those a lot.
They weren't soundfonts, they were samples from the Garritan Personal Orchestra. If you're talking about the choir, that was just MIDI that I converted to MP3 using Hamienet.com's free online converter.

thanks, i was referring to pretty much all the instruments in that track, they mesh well and sound good.

think i could get that choir sample by chance?

It's not really a sample I can get you. What you do is you write out something in .mid format, export it, go to Hamienet.com (or any other website that has a MIDI-MP3 converter) upload that MIDI, select an instrument set (which is just a bunch of samples preset to fit General MIDI) and press convert. There's a few annoyances with it, of course, (probably because it's free) mainly being that the default sound level can be really distorted. Fortunately, you can adjust that beforehand. Plus, even if it is MP3/WAV quality, don't expect it to be similar to expensive, high-quality samples. I prefer this way to free samples, because you can use articulations that sequencers can't, or can't as well. Of course, something like EastWest Symphonic Choirs would be 1000x better, but this is good for something free.
By the way, for the choir I used the Instrument Set 5-Fluid R3.

I love the final boss music, it's truly awesome. I really would appreciate if you'd put up a looped version to download. I also like "Intense Scene" very much and I'd like that too. I can just imagine both these songs making my game epic.
