We were pretty successful last time we did this, so it's back again! Basically, the idea is to put in 60 hours of game development during the month of February, which is a little more than two hours a day. If you don't like 60 hours, feel free to set your own goal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Good luck to everyone! I hope to see some great games by the end of the month.
- How do I participate?
Make a thread in the new Game Development Month forum, which can be found under Games. You should keep track of your hours in the thread title. I encourage posting updates and commenting on other people's updates. I also recommend setting some goals for yourself and maybe making a to-do list. What do you want to accomplish by the end of the month?
- What's the point of this?
To get you to work on your game. Working together as a group is fun and helps keep people motivated, and 60 hours in a month is a short-term, achievable goal. Hopefully by the end of the month, you'll have some better work habits and can continue working on your game.
- Are there prizes?
The prize is having more of your game made. Since the participation guidelines are so nebulous, we can't offer actual prizes.
- Do I have to start a new game/finish a game?
Nope! As long as you're working on a game in some fashion, it counts. You can even make assets if you want.
Good luck to everyone! I hope to see some great games by the end of the month.
