hi there,

I am the maker of Fate.
and this is my first game!
it's a pretty common idea i know.
My computer has Vista well suddenly it didn't want to cooperate with RPGXP anymore and so i had limited stuff.

This game is about you.
Your fate is the fate of the entire world.
A few notes PLEASE READ!!!
The story is incomplete. I have the characters and other Data about the story on a other computer that crashed i need to recover everything that wasn't put on my new pc. i bought a USB stick so i can tranfser them.
a further Character update on 20/09/2008. I will revamp the maps, this game may not have original contents as counts for map tiles and characters tiles. but this is my first game that i would release.

Story:
Once in this universe the dark and light lived with each other but then.
A dark knight rised up he traveled of the moon.
there was a black with bit purple ray coming from the moon towards the earth. it was like a gate.
So the dark knight traveled within it to seize the earth with his mighty army nothing could stop him or could he be stopped?
When that dark ray traveled to the earth the sun wakened up and forged an immense light beam.
it was a big flash.
there was something flying like a star, It was the bringer of salvation.
so the two knights fought each other over 150 years and then........


They immerged to one single light source that didn't produce enough light nor shadow.......
so for over 40 years people have lived in Twilight.

there were also three pieces. It was a belt.

One piece: Salvation
The other : Destiny
and the last : Darkness.

If two of them combined like this.

Salvation -> Destiny this meant that the wearer of salvation could change the worlds destiny and bring salvation.
without it. It was much harder to bring salvation.

Destiny could not be used if it was just one piece.

If Darkness combined with Destiny the earth will live in Darkness forever until salvation comes.

But if Salvation and Darkness merge you get twilight. Two kind of lights makes Twilight.
but if Destiny, Salvation and darkness bind each other.... There would be peace until the chain broke.

But if Salvation and darkness break the two lights are shot into the person who has the Pieces.
if the Piece of salvation granted his power to the chosen one he will lighten up the darkness.
But if darkness litterly poured into the human being the human transformed into a dark evil being and shadow will follow.

You will meet people that will love you becuase you did something good to them or people will hate you becuase you did something bad to them.
Dungeons playeble all again over again if wanted.

This is the lava world. The numbers mean something the landscape was too big to get all of the map.

Let me tell you something. The maps needs alot of work, and I meant it. They are to sqaure and to empty. Read some mapping tutorials, and try again.

Also, the story dosen't appeal to me at all. You need to work on it aswell.
 
Allright, I'm not going to lie to you, your game is really bad from the looks of it. If it is your first game with RMXP, then it's allright, as long as you learn in the process, but it does not really belong here.

The story is very very bland. This is one of the most done things ever (aside from elemental crystals). Why don't you add "more" now instead of tomorrow? Characters need personalization, the world needs a setting, a culture, an origin, a way of working (magic?). It needs serious developpement.

Seems you are making yet another of the 4000 Fable rip-off. Without understanding how that actual game works/how it's made, the balance, the principles.

I'm not even going to giver you tips about how to improve the maps, they are just horribly bland. Follow some tutorials, look at other projects, but bad maps such as these are the number-1 turn-off for players. Who would like to walk in such a bare plain? Don't forget that a tile is about 1x1 meter in real life. Also, nature isn't symetrical. No straight lines, only randomness.

Click here and look around the various tutorials, mostly the ones in the first sections (General, Writing, Mapping). Also, play other well known games, or any other RM games at all so you learn how other peoples do it, and how it's done.
 
yeah dude the idea is really stolen and it have been used for years..


why won`t we make a game which it`s main idea will be to find laccy..
 
stolen idea? i hope you're not talking about the "story" because
1) It,s not a story at all. It's just 2 lines of text that needs to be elaborated A LOT.
2) 99% of the games in the world are using this (and I'm not even talking about fangames)

Mr TBB try to keep it constructive, telling somebody they have a 'stolen' story isn't a fair judgment. I mean, yes, it is a very cliché story but it is by no means stolen in my opinion. Reallead like posters above me have said try some mapping tutorials and you will see huge differences in the way your game looks. You could also try working a bit on the story adding details on the world and characters in the world. The features seem pretty decent, keep it going. You'll get better. :)

Reallead, I suggest you to restructure your post. Make it attracting, make it easy to read and make it well organized. Take a look at other project threads, it can give you a good idea on how you can do it. Also, have your own style in it, people will be more tempted to come back if the project thread is attractive and different from the others.
You should also take the time to put more into it. More screenshots, more informations about the story, the characters, etc. If you post an almost empty project thread, people will get bored very fast. Same thing if you put too much things in it.

If you've got time to write that, you have time to write mote than two lines of text. Honestly. The maps posted are horrific, why would there be a minuscule patch of water on a beach next to a tree? Also they're so empty, look up pictures of beaches and what they contain and I'm sure there are things on the tileset that can be added to yours.

Fable didn't do it first, and they didn't do it best either. Maybe Fable 2 did. But you'll need to look further than one game to understand how it works. Physical choices between good and evil just make it seem fake. It has be to behind the scenes so you don't second guess it and respond naturally and it better reflects what the playing is looking to do. With the amount of events you have I highly doubt you can achieve this.
 
No the size of the numbers is fine but if there was a secret niche somewhere that asks for the numbers a few maps later it would be a nice little something. Perhaps a message about people who helped develop it or more insight into the story. Of course hoping for either now would be beggars belief.
 
In that case... wait... how would people have carved those numbers before (in a lava/fiery cave)? Surely we can't be talking about natural occurences...?

Oh of course not, if you are going to link something in the story to it then it needs good reason. It would be an awesome way to fight a side boss. You enter the code and some ancient piece of machinery or something bursts out of the lava. It would be unexpected too.

well the number is a code to open the Lava temple if you have the numbers you can play a song and it will open the door

i think you took the right screen shots.  if you post ur best two and all the others (ahem) sucked, then you wouldn't get the feedback you needed to go back and rework all of the other maps.    I have 'flat earth' syndrom myself, can't map any height dimensionality or underground caverns worth a dam.  So I don't.  I've completed at least one game (Doglord: Journey of Sation Amok  ... would turn up in a search), but ive started and stopped on half a dozen projects.  My current project seems to be headed inorexably closer to being finished once again... but i am CONTINUALLY revamping things.   I see Quintescence and suddenly i must have a intro cut.  I see Cast Aside and suddenly i must have an animated title screen.  I see Hybris and suddenly i must try to incoorporate 8 directional movement/dashing/etc....  the point being, it deffinitely helps to check out what OTHER people are doing as well as reading tutorials, etc.  BIG TIP:  if you can walk past a tree or a rock or something and that's the only thing on the screen with you... ur maps are deffinitely TOO empty (even in a dessert).
 
Yep. Desserts are chock full of sugar, not empty at all.
