exporting/importing and retaining the background template

Hey all,

I'm trying to export Actor1 to cut it into sections so each person in 'Actor1' has their own charset file but I'm running into two problems.

1) The background changes from the checkerboard template that shows in VX to a green background in paint after exporting. When I re-import, this background stays and I'm not sure how to get rid of it because the screen that usually pops up that allows you to select the 'clear' color or whatever doesn't come up like it normally should.. =(

2) I keep cutting off some of the sprites and it seems somewhat off-center.

I'd -like- to be able to do this myself to speed up the process of making my project and so I'm not wasting people's time by having them dissect Actor1, Actor2, etc but I'm having a lot of issues. Any help would be appreciated!

Try downloading GIMP, or another layer based image editing software, to solve your issue with the green background. Search for a RMVX character set template on Google to help align your sprites.
