Eternal Conflict: Twilight Rising (RMXP)

The Focus:
Eternal Conflict is all about telling a story, it may not have a-lot of fancy features, but that adds to the charm; and the gameplay may not be revolutionary for the RMXP, but it doesn't have to be. The gameplay only has to work well enough to keep the player engaged. Character Developement and Story are the key elements of Eternal Conflict, and while it doesn't excel in the other things, I believe that it does them well. Constructive Criticism (not Flaming) are welcome.

The Story:
Millions of year ago existed two gods known as Chaos and Void, both of which believed in one thing while the other believed in the complete opposite, which brought the two sibling gods to war. Both gods gave birth to Demi-Gods which would serve their ideals, Chaos poured all of his energy into one child, Death - who would govern the domain of death and all death; Whereas Void split her energy into two children, Hope (the weakest of her children) who represented the hope in the hearts of all mortal kin, and Justice, who governed and represented the ideal of justice. Death began to form a union of followers known as he Chaos Legion, whereas the followers of Void known as the Eternal Order were formed with the intention of protecting the races of Void and shepherding them. From within, the leader Nathaniel Mazer and his minions split from the Eternal Order, causing a war to errupt. At the very end, his brother Lucient sealed him and took leadership with the remaining of the order. Many years later, Nathaniel crash-landed upon the planet of Arcesan and began to take control of the world. Seeing this, the Eternal Order moved in to stop him and a war errupted for control. The Eternal Order won once more with the aid of King Rahn of Krugis and sealed Mazer within six segments. With the Eternal Order shaken, the Chaos Legion took this opportunity to incite another war, one that lasted nearly fifty years. At the end, the two factions came together and Death and Lucient agreed to place both their children on the planet in stasis, to awaken when Nathaniel once more arose. A thousand and some years later, a woman of the Krugis Republic finds two babies and adopts them.

Dain McCallen

Element: Lightning
Hometown: New Haven, Vesland
Brief Personality: Dain has a calm and composed attitude most of the times, however he has a few triggers which can sent him into a frenzy of anger, one of which being his senior officer at SSAF, Braden. He genuinely cares about the world around him and does his best to protect it and his family.
Brief Description: Dain was found along with his brother Wil by Alma McCallen at the age of two and adopted by her a year later, carrying no memories of his past life whatsoever. His adoptive mother has treated the two of them as if they were her very own children despite being adopted and being a single parent. Dain used to be bullied alot, however when he was sixteen he entered into the SSAF Junior Reserve Program while already taking lessons in Kendo from the age of six. The bullies of New Haven High pretty much stopped messing with Dain from that point on. He has been in college for three years now, working towards his four-year degree in Force-Technology hoping to become a F-T Scientist when he graduates. Dan is secretly in love with Jess Vontreus and has been since middle school but too shy to admit it.

Wil McCallen
Age: 26
Year: 2000
Favored Weapon: Scythe
Elements: Fire (&) Darkness
Hometown: New Have, Vesland
Brief Personality: Wil has always been a ladies man, and will go at great lengths to date a girl he has set his sights on, though on the serious side he has always ad a protector personality to him, he always protected his brother and mother no matter what.
Brief Description: Wil is Dain's older brother and has always played as sort of protector to his younger brother, as he is skilled within martial arts and has taken martial arts since a young age, so all of the bullies in New Haven have constantly feared him since he was little. Wil has always been a ladies man, and it is a common saying around New Haven that Wil always gets his girl. When Wil slipped through the mystic portal, he inhabited unique abilities including the ability to wield a scythe near-flawlessly. He still takes the position of protector, especially when the girls are involved.

Jess Vontreus
Age: 22
Year: 2000
Favored Weapon: Saber

Hometown: New Haven, Vesland
Brief Personality: *Coming Soon*
Brief Description: Jess is the daughter of Shea Vontreus, the town's master tailor, and Arnald Trinn, a former member of the SSAF who went missing in a recon mission. Shea has always tried to give her daughter the best life she can, and Jess has always been in the spotlight of popularity in New Haven. At sixteen, Jess entered the SSAF Junior Reserve Program soon after Dain did and has followed him ever since, even being in the same squad as him. Jess secretly loves Jaye though lacks the nerves to tell him herself.

The screenshots aren't that great. I see you're using Gubid's battle system. This will be interesting to see how your game plays out. THere aren't too many games out there using his system, at least, none I've seen. But the maps aren't that great-waaaay too empty, and the river is too straight and rectangular. check out some mapping tutorials, that might help. other than that, it looks decent. keep it up.  :thumb:

Oh, and like Des mentioned, you don't need five screenshots of basically the same thing.

And the VX facesets don't mix with the XP characters. sorry, it just doesn't. try Ruruga's resources-they have good XP facesets there.
 
Your maps definitely need some major sprucing up. Way too bland, especially for nature. Nature is random and cluttered. It's not two or three trees and a log on a big open field. Usually.

I'm all for more use of the tactical battle systems. Done right they can be a lot of fun. Your story is solid enough. You just need to improve the mapping in my opinion and put a lot of work into making the battles fun. Looks decent so far.  :thumb:
 
@Dadevster: Thanks for the constructive Critisizm, I'll be replacing the faces as soon as I can get in contact with Rue, also, the graphics have been updated, have Clest making Half-Kaizers for me now. I'm going to be reworking the maps, I deleted all the previous ones for the new version.

@Mazoku: I know, my mapping quite sucks quite frankly. On the new maps though, that's hopefully solved. I'll post them up later today, working on the first duel.
 
I dont see the difference between screenshots and your mapping is kind of, not good. Also the sprites you have for characters are way to big. The little girl is almost as big as the tree...
 
Yeah, Rural areas aren't my forte. Might need to hire a mapper then, and I haven't been able to find any Half-Kaizer compatible tiles.

im a pretty good mapper and i can help with your maps. Right now all im doing is writing a story for a future game and my freind is gathering rescources so im kinda free...(KINDA is a key word) anyway, Just PM and ill see what i can do with the mapping and since im in need of some tile-sets myself so while im searching ill keep an eye out for some half-kaizer combatable tile-sets.

before starting out, learn to map properly. There is no details on the map, niether creativity. And the character sets doesnt hit in. Or are these giants?
 
I've been looking for HK-compatible tiles, and I agree, that map sucked. My mapping skills have since increased (mainly through intensely going through tuts.)
 
Sorry to say this, but the new screenshots are horrible. REALLY horrible. Kaiser and traditional RTP don't really go together... and regardless of that, the map design is awful even if you weren't using Kaisers. It's too barren. and wtf is up with those trees? That looks like shit.

The sprites themselves are very good though.
 
UPDATE ~ Well, I lost my PC and just got a new Laptop, so this is continuing, however since I lost all of my files from my PC, I'm going with a bit of a different theme. Also, I'll have a lot more character info and world info later on, sleepy time.
 
Oh man, more games with sideview battles. I prefer the classic style.
And yeah, without the stories and screenshots, how are we suppose to comment on your game?
 
Well, as soon as my friend finishes the Verge System, battles will be very interesting. I'll have the game story updated and add some screen-shots tomorrow, I'm barely awake as I write this.

RE: Got some screenies up, as well as having the story up now, will revamp the existing two character with more info and add in the confirmed third party member soon.
