To reveiw the eragon movie, it sucked!

the first scene was okay... but the rest realy cheesed me of, i mean, saphira flys into the sky as a baby and comes back down fully grown, and already named. brom is an emo, and a bum. Za'roc has a blue gem, BLUE!

if you have seen this movie and want to complain, post here. i know im not the only one who doesn't like this, all my friends were there and they all hated it.
another bad thing about it was the end scene, and nothing happend in it that leads up to the next book, AND THEY KILLED THE RAZAC! thats why eragon left! to get revenge, and the killed them in 2 seconds!

The game sucked too. I'm not too surprised though, most book-to-movie conversions don't work most of the time, since they change the story lines so much to make it more mainstream. Any whos, the book is pretty good (im half way at the moment).

Well, Movies always seem to destroy the ambience we get from the books...

But, I do love the book.... is the movie that bad? :/

The book wasn't that good to begin with. There was nothing about that was much better than anything else; for the most part is was completely generic fantasy that introduced nothing original at all. It only got popular because it was published (by his PARENTS) when the LOTR movies were huge and people were begging for more fantasy.

So I wasn't expecting the movie to be that great in the first place. To each his own, I suppose.

I liked the book, it was good! But I haven't seen the movie or played the game. Is the movie really that bad? I've been reading reviews and it seems like it sucks, but I really hope it doesn't.

Well uh not sure what one expects from a book written by a 15 year old. Once the novelty of "hey, a kid wrote a whole book!" wears off you start to kinda notice... a 15 year old certainly wrote this book.

Macchia, some 15 year olds can actually WRITE and write well. I was writing fairly decently around that age; not enough to be published, but still.

I have to agree with Panda though. The book sucked; it was a horrible mishmosh of boring fantasy cliches, so it doesn't surprise me that anything stemming off of it sucks as well.

Enigma, I couldn't think of a way to put the answer to your question into words, because there are SO many fantasy cliches (from the different species, to the dragons, to it practically being a LotR rip off, etc). I asked my friend to help me with an answer, and this is what she had to say:

Skyla: I'm trying to think of a good response that doesn't sound too snippy. Help me out?
Sennet: It's just generally cliche, but my biggest gripe is the constant string of WTF impossibilities in it
Skyla: Yeah, like the language thing. (in reference to Eragon learning elfish in one day)
Sennet: And the fact that he was hunting for meat for his family in the start of the book
Sennet: Chasing one deer for DAYS when he has a bow
Sennet: When they're growing BEANS
Sennet: And the fuckers are eating chicken for breakfast when he comes home!

yea thats true but i never read the book my dad made me go see the movie with him friday it was all right in my perspective really part i liked about it was the shade Durza i think is what his name was I didnt like how it left ya hanging there and how the heck can safira breath glass or diamond or whatever and not breath fire thats insane:-/

Fantasy is waaaay too easy to f*** up (and when I say fantasy I really mean Swords n' Sorcery. Fantasy is actually a wide and far-reaching genre that includes such classics as Alice in Wonderland and Star Wars. It's a shame that fantasy now means "LotR ripoff" or "Harry Potter ripoff".)

Because Fantasy almost always deals with a magical unrealistic world people tend to delve to far into that and not into the human aspect of things and the story becomes... Lacking...

(Though, I find the prospect of people on this particular board complaining about the quality of swords n' sorcery writing from young people... Interesting.)

This is merely an attempt to cash in on the popularity of the novels. I wish they'd pick some of the really good sword and sorcery novels to movie-ize. Although they'd probably just screw them up, LotR was a fluke among novels turned movies in that it was actually worth watching.
