The basics:
When you run into an event you go into a battle. Easy enough with or without scripting.
BUT, before the battle starts there would be a short stall time in which another enemy event nearby may try to to collide with you, in order to add all enemies it (the second event) contains to the enemies you're already facing with first event. Preferably, the enemy moves with a good enough pathfinding find the straightest path to your character, but not good enough to move around other objects.
In effect, if you run into an enemy event, another enemy event may link itself to that battle, that provided terrain allows.
