In this tutorial I will be explaining how to create a darker look and a more contrasted look to the RTP Tilesets using Photoshop. This is my first tutorial so I am gonna try to explain everything in detail.
Ok for the first part you open up the tileset in Photoshop.

Now I don't know if there is a different way of doing this, but you won't be able to edit the tiletset right away, so you have to go to IMAGE > MODE > RGB COLOR. Now, you want to add 2 new layers, you can name them whatever you want it doesn't matter. In the first layer you created (right above the tileset layer), you want to fill it wilth a light blue color and set it to Soft Light with a 10% Opacity. Now the reason I do this is so when you import it into RMXP and you choose a tranparent color, it won't take away from all of the other similar blacks there.

Next you want to take a black color, preferably the darkest black and fill that in the 3rd layer (The one right above the blue filled layer). Now after you filled this with the black color, you set the layer to Soft Light with a 100% Opacity. Now this will create a darker look to the entire tileset and it won't look so saturated.

Now all you have to do is repeat the same process for all of the autotiles that are in this tileset, which I believe are Wall02 and Carpet02.
This is all you have to do, you are now finished!
I decided to change the wallpaper to a black color, just because I like everything to have a darker look and feel to it. All I did was select the wallpaper by using the Rectangular Marquee Tool and selecting every part of the wallpaper. You can do this by first selecting a part of it, then hold down Shift which will create a + below the Rectangular Marquee Tool. This allows you to add others areas to your current selection, which is a very handy feature. Then I just put a black gradient over the selection and that was it.
Here is how it looks in game and with the black wallpaper. Oh I almost forgot, I also darkened the Character and the Battler. I have the unedited Warrior01 on the left and the edited on the right.

Enjoy! Hope this helps anyone.
