Editing Battler Graphic

When your editing a battler graphic in png format how would you be able to keep the transparency?

You have to use a program that supports it. Paint doesn't support transparency so if you save a file in paint you'll lose transparency.

Or you can fill in the outside with a color you haven't used in the image. Then when you import it into RPG Maker, left-click that outer color to set it transparent.

Regimos has it right, have the background colour one colour and select it to be transparent when important the graphic into RMXP.
